I've been making decent money from poker for several years now, and up to date I haven't loaned money for poker but once, and that was to my best friend who asked for a couple of hundred to start playing. I did tell him that it's okay, I'll lend the money because I know he is good for it, but he should NEVER play with "other people's money". He blew it all in a week or so, but did pay me back exactly when he said he would. Other than that, I just don't loan anyone money for poker or any gambling of sorts. If a close friend is a need, say a car broke down, a washing machine, etc... I have no problem helping my friend's out, but not for anything else. Ever. And I have never asked for a loan. Ever. And won't.
