That would drive me crazy too. I know that when you watch on TV there is a time limit they have. You don't necessarily see it but I was at a couple of tapings of the WPT games with a friend of mine and she controls the timer. When it is getting close to the time she signals the announcer and at that point they have about 30 seconds left. Now on TV it's good to have people hanging on the edge but in home games... I don't think people hang on the edge so much as they get frustrated just like you. How about taking a timer with you next time you go to the game or have him over for a game and jokingly say okay like TV we are going to time everyone to 30 seconds a hand which should give you more time to think about what you want to do rather than say in order to stop long delays.
