I don't think Chris Moneymaker is [i]that[i] bad of a player. He satellited his way into the WSOP ME, came out of no where, caught himself an above average run of cards and won it.
He was never a professional before that. He was just a home game hero. He never really claimed to be a professional either.
You kind of have no choice after you win the ME, for tax reasons alone, you are now a professional gambler.
With all the Moneymaker bashing that goes on, we should step back and take a look at what he has done for the game.
I remember flipping through the channels one day and found the WSOP on. Some no name guy won the entire main event.
Since then I started playing online and started a regular home game. I guess I kinda owe him one, in a sense. |
