Default do you play like an Idiot ( i had to ask again)

I am beginning to suspect that more and more people are bluffing to try to buy the pot.
Too often I see these people stick with nothing and end with nothing.
When these players bet, you must call.

Only an Idiot would call a check raise, right?
Only an Idiot would check the nuts all the way to the river, right?
Only an Idiot would bluff all their chips away, right?

I know I have played the Idiot before, and it really does make you a better player, while sometimes you actually get lucky.

Just remember to get the 'right' amount of money in the pot if you are to play the Idiot.

I have seen MANY pro's play like that. For example, late at night one time not too long ago on FTP, I was watching Patrik play a NL Holdem for blinds at $500/$1,000 6-max. He was mostly down at the table, losing his money to two other people there. A few instances, he would get checked to on the flop. He would bet, and the checker would raise him. Most of the time, Patrik would call, and take down the pot later on. I watched him slow play a bunch of hands and by the game was over, he had bluffed a bunch of his chips away. So does playing like that really make you a bad player?

I have said this before and I will say it until i die:

To be a truly good player, there are times you must be at one with your inner donkey and play like one to If you try to be perfect everytime, they have a name for you, rocks

What makes a good player is being adapt his playing style to the level of play and his/her table image. The style u see antonius play would probably not be profitable at low limits, where ABC poker woroks best because of the passive nature of the lower stakes among other reasons. You can also bet that if he were playin at those low limits he would adjust accordingly and also have a winning style.
It is great education to watch the greats in action, but you must remember that the style employed may not be the most profitable at your own table if you are tryin to emulate it.

well.. sometimes also in a freeroll you have to be a bit aggresive because only very few people cashed something and if you are not loose enought, you will finsihed in a good position but not ITM, whick is the most important thing.. you have to play according the situation.

Playing like an idiot for a short time can become very profitable longterm when people 'take note' of your image. When you do hit that monster it's payback time with interest

Yes and yes to the quotes. Play solid poker, but once in a while you must play when you do not want to. It is OK to lure the others into thinking you are a total rock by playing a tight style. But if you are to play this way you must make the proper bluffs when needed. You can not wait for AA, KK or the perfect flop all the time or you will not win anything when these hands come due to your extremely tight table image.

I am not saying to bluff your whole stack because you have played tight for the last two hours, but you must be able to pick spots and risk chips when you know you have the lessor or no hand. Usually an out or two is helpful, but not required.

Your little inside poker voice should tell you once in a while as Wyte mentioned, "it is donkey time". A limited amount of aggression from a tight player is a good way to steal pots since everyone will be putting you on a hand. The secret to this play is to use it when appropriate, do not wait forever to play. Steal a few pots when necessary and you will see your stack grow.

Later,
