Default The Donkey Test

I was playing poker and watching the wsop on espn last night, and there was a guy on there that has this website, DonkeyTest.com. It gives you a test and gives you a poker IQ based on the answers.

It was the first I had heard of it so I tried it. I got a 105 score. Not quite a pro score!

I thought you guys would find it interesting and would be neat to see different scores.

Thanks

I only got a 118. But I probably could have done better if I took it seriously.

I just got home from work and was goofing around when I took it.

I got a 114, but I think that's pretty good since I'm not a NL Hold'em cash player which most of the questions were about.

I wouldn't stress about these results. 90% of the significance of your score can be found in the idea that they're looking to sell you the full results for $10.

On another site, one where I respect a LOT of the NL players and know how strong they play, the scores of most of those people ranged from 114-124. Although, there was one guy with a 132 that posted his full results and they were super-positive saying that he's probably a high stakes pro. So finding a meaning from these numbers is even harder than it looks.

Their FAQ suggests the following translation:

IQ Score Skill Level
60 - 74 Donkey (Expected to lose quickly in all games)
75 - 89 Donator (Expected to lose in all games)
90 - 109 Average Player (Expected to lose slowly in raked games, break even in homegames)
110 - 119 Low Stakes Winner (Wins at 100 NL and lower)
120 - 129 Medium Stakes Cash Pro / Tournament Pro (Wins at 200-600 NL and tournament poker)
130 - 144 High Stakes Pro (Wins at 1K NL+)
145 - 159 Poker Genius

Personally, I do not know how much or how little I agree with the scores for this test. I don't know enough about it. But I wouldn't let the scores bother me.

No stress here. If I get good cards I play good. I adjust well to the players Im playing.
We will allways be learning that's what these forums are for.

I took it while playing also and got a 104. I will need to take it again sometime when I am focused just on the test. What I did notice is that after I noticed the scores and the general guidline for what the score means, I definitely agree, I need to study more regardless, and while I am not a loser in .5/1 NL cash games, I am not a big winner either.

One thing I have done instead of going out and buying a new book, I have begun to re read Holdem Poker for Advanced Players, I think re reading the books that I have can help apply more of each book than what I absorbed the first time I read them. When I was in school, I never had to study for class and tests, so reading poker books with intent to study and absorb information is harder for me than most people, so reading the books for the second time can only be more helpful for me.

I will post a reply when I take the IQ test again, when I have more time to focus on it, I hope my score can go up by at least 10-15 points, it would make me feel better about the grind I have put myself through recently.

I got a 111, pretty much consistent since I am a low stakes winner.
