Bad beat jackpot? wait....what?

So, I'm taking one of my first shots at $0.25/0.50 today, hoping that me running well will continue at this new level. Unfortunately, me running well pretty much went to crap. In one hand.

I lost over $1000. In one hand. Well, sort of....

I'm not sure if it would still have happened had I been sitting in, mainly because I don't know how the random number generator works at UB (or any other site for that matter), but the "what if" is going to put me on...

Lately I've been reading a lot of "bad beat" stories and tilt problems, not only here but in other forums as well. I have to say that Tilt is a bad beat in and of itself. If you cannot vanquish this demon, you're damned to an eternity of Hell at the poker tables.

I'd like to review a few of the many issues that can send players on tilt, and offer a few insights on how to get around this problem...

A more conservative bankroll management approach

A concept that completely escaped me for the first little while of playing online poker, bankroll management has been a learning experience.
I've been rather fortunate after depositing small amounts on a couple of different sites and jumping immediately into stakes that could have erased my deposit had I lost a few buy-ins. This was mainly out of boredom and not wanting to grind $0.05/0.10 stakes for a couple of months to get to $0.10/0.25 (not that I was necessarily ready, but getting lucky...
