BETTER GET THERE - A JOURNEY

The purpose of this blog is to teach myself (and all the readers) how to become a successful poker player. This means starting from $2000 and working my way up to big games.

I will post statistics and strategies as well as stories and facts from the "real life" away from the computer.

Getting to be a successful poker player is not just about playing poker and thinking about it. It's also taking care of your health (both physical and mental), planning your future and other things that have nothing to do with poker.

Journey to big games starts now and I ... better get there.

WCOOP is starting in 5 minutes. I have to admit that I'm excited. I had my ex's goin' away party tonight and I ended up being there two hours and now I'm home for the tournament. Most likely this kind of excitement leads to early exit lol.

Let's see if I can edit this post with the hands I play, the interesting ones that is.

Hand 1 ... busted. Just kidding I hope

1st break - 3940

I was down to 1400 chips after 30min. Managed to get to 2000 and then double up by reraising aggressive villain OTB with Ad9s. Villain called and flop was 6d7d8d. My first thought was how to get max value so I bet 2/3 pot to set up a turn shove if blank. Turn was 5 and villain pushed all-in which I insta called and villain was drawing dead with QdJs.

My table has two loose aggressive players and two semi-loose passive players. Aggressive players are on my right which is good. At least I can fold to 3bets from my left.

2nd break - 16404

I got lucky. I was getting tired of same aggressive villain raising my every bb so when he raised to 300 and I found 87s in the hole I pushed all-in 2700 to win those 450 in the pot. He instacalled with ATs but I got there with trip sevens.

Then I won couple of smaller pots when I was BvB with the other aggro villain who raised my blind even more. So when he raised my bb 2nd time I reraised w KQ with the intention to snap call his push, which I did. I was against tens in a 10k pot. I got there again.

3rd big pot was sick. I was in a new table and sb miniraised my bb I reraised with 77 and sb called. flop was T26 and small blind bet 1k (almost pot) with 3000 behind. This seemed suspicious so I pushed. Sb called with j2 lol. My hand luckily held up.

Oh well. Was dominating the table and reraised an aggro guy with TT who couldnt get away from it in a 23k pot. Now 3k left... and doubled up to 7k through villain with that ak. My QQ>99.

3rd break - 14056

Doubled 2nd time when I called an utg raise with 88 flop Q86. Small blind check raises and we get it in. Sb shows 57 for oesd and doesn't get there. Phew.

I lose 4kish when I 3bet with TT and have to fold to flop cr by cold caller on a a hi flop.

Out ... my 77<AK 2nd time. 20kish pot. Nothing I can do. Better get there some time.
