BETTER GET THERE - A JOURNEY

The purpose of this blog is to teach myself (and all the readers) how to become a successful poker player. This means starting from $2000 and working my way up to big games.

I will post statistics and strategies as well as stories and facts from the "real life" away from the computer.

Getting to be a successful poker player is not just about playing poker and thinking about it. It's also taking care of your health (both physical and mental), planning your future and other things that have nothing to do with poker.

Journey to big games starts now and I ... better get there.

It's been a while since last post and I totally blame summer for it. It's been awesome to have this kind of a weather, temperature being above +23 C (73F) for almost two weeks. Being rare, one needs to enjoy it to the fullest and instead of grinding out inside I have been running, hanging out in parks and terraces etc. I feel relaxed.

___________

Pokerwise month's stats look like this:

PLO100 (HU) 700 hands -$139.55 (1.4 bi)
PLO100 (6max) 15,295

Back to square 1

Posted 18th July 2008 at 09:39 AM by BtrGetThere
It's been a while since last update and there's always a reason for that (lol). Main reason is that I haven't had that much time to play lately. I went to countryside for a long weekend last week and this week I've been working like crazy.

When I have played, I've been dropping buy-ins, 11 buy-ins to PLO100 and some to PLO 50. Tournaments have been on downswing also, not nice. So I dropped levels following my own advice and I'm currently playing full ring NL50 for a change. I should

Button vs blind - 4-bet re-re-steal

Posted 9th July 2008 at 11:35 AM by BtrGetThere
Everyone and their mother knows nowadays that when button is raising first in he normally doesn't have that good of a hand and he is just trying to pick up the blinds and antes (I'm saying antes because one shouldn't be stealing when there's nothing to steal). To combat the button blinds have become pretty aggressive and they are re-stealing more and more frequently.

At the moment game is at a stage where button with big/medium stack (and co/hj) really have to tighten up against

What a start

I got my account all set up on Monday and started grinding. I 8-tabled PLO50 and played three tournaments. I ended up ITM in one of the tourneys and about 10 buy-ins up in Omaha, so pretty good start.

Yesterday was even better! Started again by 8-tabling PLO50 in which I ended up about 7 buy-ins on the positive side. In between games I also went jogging for 50min so I was feeling good.

Later that night I played two $26 tournaments... and ended up taking 2nd place in
