Aces in 25PLO

Posted 21st September 2008 at 09:44 PM by snipermcgees
So, I'm convinced AAxx is one of my most commonly misplayed hands in omaha. It feels like I spew chips like a monkey post-flop against any decent player.
I've experimented with different pre-flop plays while holding AAxx, but still feel really leaky post-flop. I'm trying to work on this.

In this hand, the villain is relatively unknown (first 30 hands or so) and effective stacks are ~240 BB. Villain has not entered many pots preflop, and displays a very aggro style of betting postflop. To this point so far, villain seems solid overall and playing well.

From the button, I 3-bet villain's open raise with AAc3c10. I have 3-bet maybe once to this point and was expecting a fold. Villain calls and check-raises flop and I'm lost.

Hand History Posting and Rakeback

I'm thinking flop check (for this specific hand) might be better against a respected aggro opponent here, so I'm not sure of my play. I don't think villain is calling very often, so the result is fold (I win) or face a check-raise (I suck).
I'm also stuck in points when facing a check-raise on the flop, I almost always want to raise big or fold, and calling should be mixed into my play. I think folding in this hand was correct, but I dunno. Raising seems weird and calling seems like "OK, I'll call this big flop check-raise but I'm gonna fold 95% of the turns, so please just check the turn" crappy. The flop is pretty dry (no flush draw, and two small cards) and I think my hand looks strong, so the check-raise was a surprise and folding felt right.
Ugh. Thinking about how dry the flop is, would villain really play a flopped set like this? Two pair?
Help.
