I just suddenly thought is it possible to go back to full ring games and play good poker after playing 6 max for a year. I cant imagine playing a full ring game now as i would over play my hands and c bet way too much. just wondering if anyone has managed to do this or is at all 6 max these days. What are the adjustments neceassary to go back to full ring. The question came to mind as when playing tounaments ,as i play to agressive and i know its because i play 6 max cash games and i am thinking of playing some full ring to help my tournament play. Does anyone know why 6max cash dominates most poker sites these days and yet tournament play is full ring. This does annoy me as when i have played short handed tournaments i have had some good results. I believe 6 max tournaments would be better suited to online. So why do poker rooms provide 6max cash games and very little for tournaments.

Ummm... I see a lot of full ring games. I also see tournaments that are 6 max. It depends on where you play and what you look for. I don't think your later points are really valid... but 6 max tournaments are probably less popular because there stands a chance that they last much longer, and it seems that the faster the play, the more popular poker is in the online world.

FR cash requires you to play alot tighter game. You really need to have a super tight range when opening from early position because there are still like 6-7 people acting after you. The popularity of 6m is because you get more hands per hour and can play a looser game. Most tournaments are fulltable probably because of the size of the fields. Imagine how much table changes you'd have in a 6m mtt with 2k entrants. There are 6m mtt's but for whatever reason they never get the large fields that normal mtt's reach.

6 max games are more fun. More action and looser play makes for decent pots than FR. I'm not sure if the poker sites gets more rake from short handed tables than fullring tables. 6man vs. fullring is almost like two different games. It takes different disciplines and strategies. I play mostly 6 man games and sometimes when I switch to FR games, I donk off my chips early on until I get because I'm still in hyper aggressive mode.
