One of its kind and with the concept of popularizing blackjack games, Blackjack Hall of Fame was created in 2002, where eminent blackjack players are honored. The physical hall of fame is situated at the Barona Casino in San Diego. Every year, professional blackjack players are invited to nominated great blackjack players for bestow them the honor. Seven members were inducted in 2002, with new inductees every year afterwards. However in 2006, only two members were inducted in the fame list. Moreover, the number of nominee was reduced to one after that and it was decided to honor only one player from that year. Members include Edward O. Thorp, author of the 1960s book Beat the Dealer which proved that the game could be beaten with a combination of basic strategy and card counting; Ken Uston, who popularized the concept of team play; Arnold Snyder, author and editor of the Blackjack Forum trade journal; Stanford Wong, author and popularize of the "Wronging" technique of only playing at a positive count, and several others.
