Yep folding trips is almost as easy as folding a high pair I mean if you're beat, you're beat.......it always depends on the person you are playing against and the board cards and the size of the bets/raises, etc..........but if you know you're beat beyond a shadow of a doubt, why stay in?

If you really look at the way that hand played out I mean he raised after the flop signifying that he most likely had the board beat....then when the turn came off his reaction pretty much gave it away as to either he was holding AK, AA or KK. He wouldn't have stabbed at the king on the turn if he had been holding QQ, so you really just gotta think about how the hand played out and make a good judgment decision. I wouldn't normally recommend just calling his flop bet but since he had the board beat, you actually saved some money by not re-raising in that situation.

I'm never folding a set, you have to put down literally the worst flop, turn and river down to get me to fold a set. You played the hand fine, another bad beat thread, nh

To fold a set on 99% of boards would be a terrible mistake

EDIT: just noticed you checked back the turn, I mean you want some value right? You gotta hope this guy has caught with AK, or has AA, maybe QQ will look you up. 110% bet the turn

i think i woulda repopped him on the flop. what if the turns an A and he has KK or the turns a K and he has QQ. then maybe you dont get him all in. at based on his range, hes most likely gonna be calling your bet on the flop anyways, and maybe he even pushes with KK or QQ. better to get it in with the nuts than let him have a chance at drawing out.

When in a cash table, I basically never fold a set. Like Irish said, it's a huge mistake 99% of the times. Even if you smell out he has a straight, or a flush, you still got 10 outs from the turn to river to beat him. If you end up against a bigger set, that's tough luck, but happens extremely rarely.

In a tournament that might be a different case, but nevertheless, I still won't fold.

Default Bad Timing

Just bad timing for your set of jacks. With the flop you can not blame the player for staying with the kings. Even if you would have shoved at the flop I think you would have had a call and would have lost anyway. Terrible timing to hit top set.

Keep playing trips.

You seem like a nice lady but it's almost as if you didn't read the original hand. You say he saved money but all the money went in on the river. You also imply that he could've folded somewhere along the way. That's ludicrous. Simplest hand of all time you have to go broke and there's not a player on planet earth that wouldn't.
