Default Cash games can be roller coasters

i was sitting at a 50c-$1 table waiting to start a multi
i played for about 4 hands and was up about $9
i watched this player just raise every time and was folding after the river
after he donked out he bought back in for $100, clearly wanting to dominate with the
BIG STACK

the next hand the pots up to about $26 because everyone called the BIG STACK raise
I have JJ and the flop is J72, I check then BIG STACK RAISES
of course i am thinking an all win would surely be called
BIG STACK has KK and sucks out a K on the river
in 10 mins, $20 gone

only $20? Well consider that a win in this one instance, I would have lost $100 or on a deep stack table, $200.

Conversely, should you have won that hand, you would have only won what, $29? You should play with a max buy in, if you are a consistant winner, the max buy in increases your profits.

I'd say you got off cheaply that hand.

You gotta figure a lot of people would've lost way more than $20 on that hand.

"I like the title cash game can be rollarcoasters"

I think no limit poker is a rollar coaster ride. It will always be this way, and the more and more people learn the worse it will be. The thing to do is maximize the profits and minimize the losses.

I do this well now, but I remeber the days where I would start with a hundred or so and in a weekend get it up to a grand or so, then move to the higher limits and lose it all in 2- 3 hours. Talk about a rollar coaster.

I manage my sessions better now. But, I've definatly been there!!

As somebody else already said you should be buying in for the maximum. If you can't afford that I think you should maybe drop a few limits, so hands like this won't hurt your roll. Cash games can have pretty large swings, so managing your bank roll is very important. That being said, there's not a lot you can do about that hand, there's no way he's folding KK in that spot. That's just a rough cooler, tough break.

Default passing time in cash games

I am a tournament player, and I do avoid cash games, however, I do get bored waiting to start the tourney.

I have won plenty of times in the 5-10 min wait and will continue with these roller coasters -since no one wins all the time.
