| I am trying to sort out the hand history here. How many people total were at the table? What position were you in? What was the position of everyone else who limped in the hand relative to you and the BB? What was your approx. stack size? What was the approx. stack size for the BB and all others involved in the hand? How was the table playing (e.g. loose/passive, loose/aggressive, tight/passive, tight/aggressive) as a whole? How was the BB playing on that same rough scale? What is your image on that same rough scale? For the last three questions, what things that happened before lead you to believe that? [Example, "The BB was tight/passive... he'd played like 4 hands in the last half hour and he would limp when he did play and fold to a bet every time he missed."] Had anything major happened in the last few hands, like the BB winning 2-3 in a row? What was the size of the pot when the BB bet on the flop? (I think it was $26 but I can't be sure from your description) The more of these questions you can answer, the better I can understand how I would have played the hand. As I see it, everyone at the table has between 150-250BB (this would be better by player). I think you open-limped... meaning you were first in the pot after the BB. I think that's (open-limping) a mistake. But I would be wrong if someone or a couple people had limped in front of you... in which case I would try and limp behind too. First in the pot, open with a raise. Also, it depends on how many people are playing. If you are 10 handed, and in early position, this might not be something you can play depending on the way the table has been. If you are 5 handed... raising it up here would be something I would consider fairly standard. The 4xBB raise by the BB is really small considering it's live $1/$2NL and there are 3 limpers... but it's not terrible. Depends on my read of the player if I could call... most likely not. I would just have to fold. If I had open-raised... and got reraised by the BB here... it's an easy fold and I can move on without regret. With the limp... and a fairly knowledgeable and aggressive BB... if he had raised just a little bit more I would be tempted to put him on a play to steal the pot from all the semi-interested limpers. If he made it $12-$15... for example... I might repop it thinking he was trying to make a play to just end it there and punish the limpers. Note: That is just me rambling... QJo is not a great hand for repopping it here unless you really know the raiser... I might do it against some of the regulars I have many, many hours of play with and who I can predict a little better. Anyway, I am rambling. If the pot was $26... his $10 underbet might be very scary... depending on reads about the player. I might call... I might not. I am still not feeling where I am at in this hand. And that is a major problem with limp/calling with QJo here... we have no idea where we are on this flop. I just don't think middle pair is good enough... but I really can't tell with the way it plays. Even as played... I might just call the $50 on the end. The board is not that great for only having trips. There's a straight possible out there. And, as I try to remind myself, "My trips are someone else's boat." That just happened to be the case here. I might bet trips on the end for value... but I will rarely 'raise' trips for value.
