Playing for play money can teach you some of the finer points of your own game perhaps.. it can teach you different things about the mechanics of a game (like how often it is that when you're on a draw you will miss. knowing the percentages is different from having the expierence behind it).. but i certainly agree with pinnie, that you should certainly not go into a real money game and try to play it like you would a play money game.. keep in mind that where play money is concerned, you have essentially changed poker from a game of Betting into a game of Cards.. big, big difference..

You're right, winningedge. The less you have staked, the more bold you tend to be. It's like being fronted in a tournament or home game by a friend. It's not your money, so what difference does it make.

I like to play both ways, no money when i have none. and real money ofcourse when I have the funds. I notice you win more when playing with fake money, that seems rather deceiving to me.

I play for real money also. If I want to play with fake money there's plenty of non poker sites that have poker games on them now. There's also freerolls where you can win real money on almost every major site for those of you who don't play much for cash. I don't play for long periods at a time unless I make it deep into a tournament. As far as making money, I'm pretty much a tread water person but now with getting rakeback every month, that just might give me the edge I need to start really getting ahead ![]()

I play a combination of freerolls and cash games (small stakes). No I haven't won loads but then again, where else can you spend 10c for 2 1/2 hours entertainment. The challenge for me is in the playing, whether for cash or play chips and I don't like to lose either gl all at the tables

I play for real money. I am proud to say I have Never taken money from the real world and lost it online playing poker. I started playing freerolls, and then moved on to smaller forum freerolls and buyins. I used to withdrawal about $100 a month from AP just from free roll winnings but that was back when every forum and their lost brother Mike had a freeroll- Now a days I make about $150 as a poker affiliate and take about $50 and have fun with it and $100 I send the the real world.-my checking account. My hard and fast rule that has kept me out of trouble is NEVER take money from the real world and put it into a poker game.and once I withdraw into the real world that money can't go back to being poker funds.

i play for real money. but i dont play for alot of money i usually will play the 1-5 dollar games. but every once in a while when i am having a good day and got nothing to do i might play in a 20-50 dollar game. i am up about 2k so far.

I play only freerolls and small/micro stakes cash games. And those only with the money I've won in the freerolls. I've never paid for poker out of my own pocket, and never will. And since I'm up to just over $200 already (after playing for about 2 months now), it looks like I'll never need to. ![]()
