Default no to loans - yes to poker

Well, i don't like them loans. No one should get a loan to play, neither poker nor market shares. If you can't afford it, get a job, buy a house, watch tv.

But in poker, sometimes I might give a "real" friend a few bucks after a long bad beat, or he might give me some. Or after a big cash out. A few times a friend has been short and after giving him 20$ he has gotten it up 1000%. (And usually lost it all after that.) Well, it's a hobby and a way to spend our time. Sometimes we might give'em chips for birthday or christmas presents. And them are not loans.
Don't loan poker chips, have fun an enjoy the game. If you lose, you lose - have a brake. If you win, enjoy it. Buy a new TV and play less and have a brake any way. It's not so serious. It's a hobby. (At least for us amateurs, even after playing a few years). Poker accounts and real money accounts should always be kept separate. That's the only way to keep up the hobby.

Default Loans

I have asked people for stakes to play online because some places and credit cards will not allow you to deposit, so to me in cases like this i personaly do not see anything wrong with it.

I agree on not making any cash loans to play. If the people out there are asking for these loans and say that it is just because they enjoy playing the game, and have had a streak of bad luck and have (at this time) ran out of funds. Simply remind them that there are regular freerolls that they can play and build a new bankroll, or plenty of practice chip games that they can play till they can reload.

never ever ever!! would i loan anyone money, especially friends, they tend to forget to pay you back. i've loaned money in the past but now i'm against it. it's a sure way to cause bad feelings towards them.
besides i have a hard enough time to funding my own poker playing, since i only have money when i itm in tournies.
so never ever ever loan money - unless it's your kids or mother.

I dont mean to offend anyone but personally I believe that people needing a loan to play poker should not be playing in the first place!! I think that this is a huge problem in our poker community and society in general. How do you all feel about this?

I agree with you 100%. If you don't have money to play poker, please don't bum for money.

LMAO! Dude, that has got to be the best stranger quote of the year relating to gambling! (Not that I think about, it's probably the only quote from a stranger that anyone has come accross relating to poker) You should give him the $10 but say: 'I'll give you $10, but I want to see you put this at the table. You can not walk away to either it's all gone, or you have increased it to $35+. Once you hit either of those two, you can walk away with what you have.' Great poker lesson for that guy. He had 'grocery' money, but either lost it all (which he probably would have, even if you had sat down at this table.), or got it up to $35, in that case, he really deserved that money and earned it.

oh hell for that answer I would just give him the $10. There was a bum on the street around my work that had a sign that said "Why lie, I need a beer" and how cant you give someone like that $5? Same reason you pay to see a stand up comic, lol.

I dont mind loaning money to certain people, like my roomate, or anyone who is a friend live or sometimes online, there are a couple people that I would possibly lend to online. Overall though, beggars are terrible, especially online, where you cant walk away from them or get them to walk away from you, and most are just d-bag little kids whose parents wont give them their credit cards. It wont ever stop, so we really just have to use the site features like unchecking the observer chat on full tilt, that will keep these people ignored.

Default Don't do it!

Don't loan money for any reason unless you don't expect to get it back! If you loan money think of it as a gift and not a loan and you will be better off. Then you will be very surprised when and if you ever get paid back!
