If you've recently made a trip somewhere to play some poker, tell us about your trip here.. always good to walk into a casino knowing a little bit about what the tables are like... I went to the Chocktaw Casino in Durant, OK this weekend and pulled $389 playing a little 4/8 Limit, but mostly 1/2NL.. The tables there were REALLY soft.. I mean, people were just giving cash away.. MY brother went with me also and he made at least $500, and he also lost 100 bucks at some point during the trip.. It was a nice poker room too.. spacious, not cramped at all even when the room was completely packed. Also, the dealers were competent (usually, there were a few instances, like one where I didnt get my raise option on the blind) and they have the shuffle machines in the tables, so you can see a lot of hands. And there was lots of dead money.. one of the players at my table didnt even know the rules, and I think he bought in about 3 times before he called it quits..

Hey Mark, let me know if you made it out there or not.. my brother went out there again last friday so you might have saw him there, though he didnt have as good a session this time as before.. Also, if you've been to winstar I would like to know what you thought about that place and how it compares to the choctaw.

Had anyone made a trip to Mississippi before Katrina? And does anyone know if the casinos are up and running again down there. I would think that would be a nice trip for newbies.

yes, there is a bus that leaves and drives a couple of hours to another town and a river boat is there to gamble. it only cost ten dollars for the ride to and from and they give you a voucher for your lunch buffet.

I am leaving tomorrow for Atlantic City, NJ. We are staying at the Tropicana and we have not been there since all of the renovations have been completed. I am really stoked to go and play in the new poker room, as I have heard a lot of good things about it. I will let you know how things go when we get back.

Cool, look forward to hearing about your trip.. Anybody out there been to vegas or other casinos? Which ones did you like best (doesn't have to be just poker, although if you know how the rooms were, would love to hear it)?

My personal fave as far as casinos and poker rooms has to be casino windsor in canada, well worth the trip from ohio. The play is always casual and the competition is usually pretty friendly. A lot of dead money floating around and the dealers are very efficient and friendly. The poker room is very nice and open with huge tvs and sports tickers everywhere. There are also in table card shufflers so you can see a lot of HPH. They were taking a $6 session fee every half hour but now they're taking rake which is infinitely better.
