Default REALLY bad day

Soo I was UP 5K in one week, all 7 days shows profit of +350 to +1300. Soo I get up this morning and Committed the Cardinal sin of every poker player alive: Sat down at a Soft Heads up table with my entire stack.

Soo I was doing ok, down and up ALOT, at one point was down 3.5K but went right back up. Well I am sitting there Heads up ($25/50 NL) and something happened that put me on tilt for HOURS, even to the point where I now have decorated my house with holes in some of the walls.

Hero ($5220)
Villian ($7100)

Hero is Dealt (As Ad)

Hero Raises to $150. Villian Re-raises to $450. Hero Smooth calls to trap villian.

Flop: Ah Qs 2d

Hero Bets $300. Villian Moves all in. Hero Instantly calls. Hero gets up from computer to get a coke.

Turn: 9d

River: Qc

Pot size: $10438 (Rake: $2).

Villian wins with 4 of a kind Queens (holding Qh and Qd)
Hero Shows (As, Ad) and is on perm. tilt.

Soo yes, It cost be 5200 but I learned my lesson, No matter how much you have beat up on the guy in the past (took him for 3.4K in 5 days). No matter how good or bad he is. DO NOT SIT AT THE TABLE WITH YOUR WHOLE BR

Edit: My BR is now $4.14 lol Soo yes It was very costly lesson but I needed to learn it at some point. When rakeback hits, it will recover but I am down 1.8K in personal money *sigh*

pity dude,

you got very unlucky, but as you said, it is not smart to sit down with your whole BR. I used to do it too, but now i play with at most 5% of my bankroll and it is working out much better. Good luck with recovering.

Tough hand to have with a set of aces, but outcomes like this occur evey second in the poker world. This is a very tough lesson on bankroll management, but it can be a good thing it happened now. The real danger would have been if you would have won for a while longer and built up some thoughts of invincibility. A tremendous loss (everything you own) hopefully was and can be avoided.

It may take some time to rebuild, but reinvest into your online roll, play well within your means (5% or even less per attempt) and move up the poker food chain one step at a time.

Bye,

Default i feel ya

Close to the same situation occured for me a few months back, i started my roll with 50.00 and worked my way up to over 3.4K and decided oooooo im just going to play HU with my whole stack, i picked up AA and this guy was betting outrageously everytime so i limped on the button he popped it up i smoothe called, flop came 33A. I jumped out of my skin, he potted instantly ofcourse since i had position n i didnt want him to go anywhere i smoother called, turn is a blank 8, he pots again so i min pot he just calls, river is a J. he shoves, i insta call and he shows pkt 3s, four flopping quads. Deff the sickest hand ive ever had, but i will never sit down with my entire bankroll again.

Default You were lucky to get that far....

Anyone that sits at table with their entire bankroll is foolish and deserves to lose this way if u ask me. It also sounds like u were already playin way above your bankroll and had a lucky upswing. You didnt mention what stakes you were playing before, because obviously u think u were playing within ur bankroll before but you were nowhere near. Even after the lucky swing and having 5k you shouldnt be playing more than 1/2 NL HU, even this risky for ur roll.
