As far as cash games go, there is no database kept for the lower limit games, upper limit games are on thecashdb.com. As far as mtt's go thepokerdb.com has all u need. I used a program called Poker Edge briefly, which has a database that includes all of the hands played at tables by their subscribers, it was very handy, but the subscription price is ridiculous. I now use Poker Tracker, which allows you to keep track of all the hands played at tables u have opened. This program is legal at all sites as far as i know, as it should be.
I think it wont be long b4 all sites ban programs such as Poker Edge, which keeps a collective database, as it should be banned.
I too started building my roll initially at sng's, and transitioned to cash games. and am now playing full time. Im not sure id be quite as profitable without Poker tracker, it's a great learning tool if you use it to review ur play, and see what your weaknesses are.
Look for me at fulltilt if u have any questions, i play under the name 9ondabr8k
Good luck on your quest, the transition to cash games can be quite brutal, your exposed to bigger swings, and the level of play is much higher than at low level sng's. The average $10-$20 sng player would get wiped out playin .25/50 ring games for instance. So I owuld start at the lowest games and work your way up, using chris ferguson's bankroll theory.
