| i like the 56 best or 46 and 36 for that matter now and again if you are lucky the 6 will give you a better straight than an opponent playing ace rag, they think they have hit their lucky gutshot then they get felted. |

| Overall i think 78 ans 67suited will get u better pots then teh rest, 89 runs into trouble with higher straights more often, for instance 89 on board of 10 j q. It also is a matter of circumstance position etc, they tend to be stronger hands the more players that are in the game/hand. HU and short handed they dont have as much value. So HU jq qould be the most profitable obviously. |

| I was reading your post and poll and find the replys are really interesting, I myself, being without the proper knowledge of odds, position, and probably the game of poker itself, really like the 9 - 10 suited, just for the fact that you know on the flop if you are in or out, if the board pairs up or the cards flopped don't or won't reach, than I'm gone (probably works that way with the other connectors too, lol) I personnel just like the 9 - 10 (and for some reason any king - five suited or not, have won a lot of money with them, lol) but that's another story.... This is just my opinion here, and it will probably change in a few minutes or the next poll, lol... thanks for posting and good luck out there..... PapaGary PS. by the way, with the king - five cards, I have made a lot of people "mad" at me for playing "those dumb" cards.... still laughing at some of the remarks I get.... thanks again... You can all have your AK...but remember, by having AK, you have capped your straight possibilities...limiting you to chase for that nut flush LOL I know, I know...people never know what I mean until I explain my thinking, so here ya go:AK, suited or not, is the highest possible connector...we know this. But what we also know is these are also the two highest cards in the deck. So, given this information, we can gather that if we get lucky and hit our A, or K, or both to make 2pr, or if we are lucky enough to get 3 of a kind, a straight, or the mother lode flush, then it's all gravy! BUT.... People who play smaller connectors have an open-end possibility, where AK can only go in one direction... The last time I checked, the odds of hitting a straight are greater than those of hitting a flush...As for my personal favorite, I really don't have one. 7/8 has been pretty fruitful, as well as J/10. But, played well and against the right people with the right community cards on the board, you can make any connectors, suited or not, work to your advantage. ![]()

| The math says AK. Yes the straight draws are limited, but most of the cards will not help the suited connectors, thus the AK will win those showdowns. There is not a calculator or book out there that can change the odds. AK suited is considered a top 5 starting hand by just about all and the math is true, AK suited comes in just behind 22, thus beating any other non-paired combination. On the other hand, playing the player and or situation with suited conns, or suited 1-2 gappers can be profitable, it depends on your reads. But the best starting hand for suited cards is still AK. Poker is one very long game, in the end the odds will still be there. Challange: You can have your favorite suited hole cards, I will take AK suited, lets play just 200 hands and I will change your opinion for which is the best suited starting two cards in the long run. Thanks, |
