I know we're all guilty of it from time to time. Mine came from a bad read. I was heads-up against a player who had been playing any high card and bullying with them...mostly hands like KQ or AK...

Anyway, I found myself with 99 against him, and he raised the minimum, so I called. The flop came up all blanks...something like 3 7 8 so I pushed...he called...he held 10 3 os, vs my 99.

Wouldn't you know, on the river came his 10...cost me $194.00.

So, in all honesty, I feel like he made the bad call, but that I could've avoided the hand rather than calling the initial raise...knowing his history, that is. He could have just as easily had a higher hole pair than my 99, but I called...so looking back, it was my own fault even if it was a suck-out. LOL

I don't think this is the "truely horrible", "what on earth were u thinking?" scenario he was looking for.

Not exactly no.

But if it feels bad, u can post it here too..

I have one truely horrible call from a NL100 live game.

I had been playing and drinking the whole night and was about to call it a night as this one happened.

I had 77 pockets and sat in the CO

The villain of the story sat on the other side of the 6 handed table, in the UTG spot.

I had been winning pots of various sizes from the man during the evening based on a tell he had.

Every time he had a hand, he tried to traptraptrap and any time he wanted to buy the pot, he fired three barrels, on every street almost regardless of the cards on the table.

This hand started as a same kind of situation. I had 170€ in front of me, the villain had about 100€

He looked at his cards and bet 8€ (8bb) almost instantly, as if he had decided to steal the pot after a few callers pay this first bet. (He did this frequently, as I said)

Flop came as 36T rainbow.

The villain bet 20€ and I raised it to 40€ Villain called and as everyone else had folded, we went on to see the turn, which came as a K (still a rainbow)

The villain bet 40€ which I called, as it looked exactly the same as any other hand I had won from him.

The river was a blank, and as the villain pushed his allin on river, I was bound to call it.

Villain showed K2 offsuits and collected a pot of 200€ and sat out on the spot.

I was left with only 70€ and a pissed off state of mind.

This was a horrible call since I didnt have the hand needed to beat the table and it was just about to leave anyway. I only based the taking part in the hand on the read on the flop when he didn't have any hand yet. As I was drunk, I completely missed any possible indications of a hit.

So horrible it was..

Well I don't have a very expensive "truly horrible what were you thinking" bad call, but I do remember one a while back when I was first getting used to online poker as opposed to live.

I had JJ, and raised the usual amount...well, everyone folded except one player who moved all in. I didn't take the time to analyze what he might have had, I just insta-called...bad choice. He shows KK and of course, by the end, my hand was no good.

So I can qualify that as a horrible call in my mind because I didn't take the time to go over the possibilities...I just called as if I were holding AA. I'm not sure what I was thinking at the time; It was about my second week into playing online, and I probably felt like the guy was either bluffing or had AK, and probably was just being way too naive.

Thanks goodness I've gotten out of that bad habit LOL

ha I don't think yours was a bad play at all lillady. I've definitely had some pretty bad ones, almost too many to remember. I think I go on tilt pretty easily after any suckout that I should have won. If I get sucked out with AA against like JJ or have trips and someone hits an inside straight I get way too pissed. after that happens I play hands like AK totally wrong where I push hard even when I miss the flop. It's a horrible habit of mine.
