Default Wow i hate poker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok So I have been playing 6 and 9 person cash games for about 2 weeks and made $800 in that time playing at $.25-.50 and $.5-1 Tables. I play anywhere from 12-18% of the hands depending on how my game fits the table and how agressive I need to be to win pots.

Now for the reason I hate poker.
I was sitting at 4 tables of $.5-1 with $50 at each.

(all this happened within 5 minutes. Keep that in mind)

Table one
I am dealt AA UTG and raise pot.
Middle position calls
SB calls
BB raises to $9

I reraise to $25
Middle position folds
SB calls
BB calls
Flop comes
A48 (2 clubs)
I go all in for last $25
SB calls
BB raises to $75 (his all in)
SB calls

BB shows KK with K of clubs
SB shows
44

SB called $25 pre with 44!!!!!
turn
9 clubs!!!!
River
4

Quad 4 for SB

The biggest donk I have ever seen gets revarded with a pot over $200
I now rebuy for $100 thinking with that kind of play I should be ab le to win something back.

30 seconds later at table 3
I hold QQ
Get into flop with 2 other players for 3x BB
I am Middle position with both blinds in play.
Flop comes 2 6 10 Rainbow
I bet $6 (2/3 pot)
SB calls
BB calls
Turn= 9
I bet $10
SB folds
BB Min raises.
I have $23 left and push all in for a $13 raise.
BB calls
He shows 5 4
?????? in that pot??? why??? Calles my flop bet???? why???? reraises me turn??? why??? calls $13 more????? why???
Cause the river was a 3 giving him a strait. Thats why. He had tyo have some sort of brain defect to even be in that pot let alone be calling and betting back at me. There goes another $60 to kindergardners.

Back at table 1 now
(im sitting with $100)
(This is the sickest of all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even sicker that all that ^)
3 player call $1 and im BB I check with 66
Flop=669!!! Boo Yaaa I got quads.
I check
early position #1 bets $2
Early #2 calls
Button folds
I call.
Turn=J
I check
Early#1 Bets $4
Early#2 raises to $12
I call
Early#1 folds
Im now in the pot for $16 with early #1 Pot of $40
River=9
Board shows 669J9
I Value bet $10 hoping he has A9
He reraises to $30
I go all in for remaining $74
He calls and shows 9999 Quads!!!

WELL I LOST OVER $300 in 5 min and I gotta say I think I played the best poker of my life. I think most people would have made $400 in that same 5 min. I went to a heads up $2-4 table with my last 400 on tilt (not smart)

BUT Its gets BETTER!!!

Heads up with a guy. Breaking even - rake for about 20min.

Have $420 at table (whole roll.)

I pick up KK
He calls my BB
I raise pot.
He reraises to $18
I call
Flop comes 9 10 4 with 2 spades
pot is $35
I bet $12
He calls
Turn=K Im happy. still 2 spades
I bet $24
He calls
River=3 Still 2 spades so no flush
I bet $40
(I have nuts except for QJ which isnt likely since he has played pretty tight only raising about 12% at the heads up table so far. and only reraised once and showed AA.)

HE RERAISES TO $100
I GO ALL IN FOR REMAINING $300 OR SO.
HE CALLS AND SHOWS QJ OFF SUIT AND TAKES THE POT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

I sat at the computer for over an hour half laughing and half crying over all of this. I would have never thought sick beats like that to ever happen within 1 month let alone one hour. I now have no money on my sunkistkid account on FTP and I dont think I will ever put anymore on. I cant risk my hard earned money on a site that fuc$ed me so hard up the a$$.

I mean how unlucky can someone get? I pride myself in poker because I use it as a way to test my skills and my brain power to out think my opponents.

Where did I go wrong in any of those hands??? Could I have gotten away from any?

I play 12-15% of the hands and I play then well and basically by the book unless I have an aggressive player at the table that has special needs.

Should I just play fake money for now on?
Should I just quit?
Any thoughts?
Cause I cant see any reason why I should use my money to get raped like that.

To state the obvious, you should play within your bankroll rather than taking all your money to a heads up table. Better luck in the future.

I have been playing online poker for close to 10 years now, and I know one thing for sure; there are trends. When you get bad beats they usually dont get any better in one night. I would advise you to never try to chase a bad beat and try and get your money back, you will infact lose your entire stack. I used to do it myself. Instead, leave the site for the night or even the week then come back later. I keep money on 5 differents sites in order for this to work for me. Another trend is sometimes you can get on ungodly good runs. Ride them out, when it starts to turn leave for a while (week or so). It works for me. Hope this helps!! Always best to check your pride at the door too.

On the first hand you need to just shove preflop, you were giving them a chance to catch. On the second hand bet more again, you're giving a good price to draws. The villain made a play and got caught, but had outs. Quads over quads is gross, not much else to say. The heads up hand-first of all you shouldn't have your whole roll at the table and secondly BET MORE, do you really think he should be folding an OESD in that spot. He still caught, and you could have just called the river. In general you need to be playing within your roll at stakes where you can buy in full and not have a short stack and NEVER EVER out your whole roll at one table.

ouch that's some horrible luck, i feel for ya. i think you should definitely take some time away from poker, but don't hastily decide to quit for good. in the long run you'll be a winner.

quite glad i don't play cash games, you can lose your whole roll in an hour
though if people play that badly i'm kinda tempted lol

Ya there bad play makes me want to play them more cause I know I will win in the long run unless i have another run of luck like that which would leave me dead. I just dont have any money right now to put on let alone anything close to enough to play the stakes im good at.

NO

There is no way you should have a chance to lose your entire wad in one hour, session, hand. Never, never, never. The hands described mean absolutely nothing, they happen every second of every day. It is how you are prepared to handle these situations is what matters. You were playing at a level above your bankroll. To 4 table cash games you should have many many many times a single table buy in. If playing .50-1.00 4 table, buy-in at $100 each you should have 20K or better yet, more in your wad. You have to have reserves for the down swings. Poker is one very long game with ebb and flow. Bankroll management is the winning way.

Default Umm see my thread on Online Cash v Casino Play

Bowlaman,
I just posted a thread in here about how online players are waaaay looser in their play than live casino play. Online, you can't bet anyone off a draw or even middle pair or even bad hands. They chase, try to get lucky, call, call, call, call call, call............ with every thing.

I was playing once and raised w/QQ from middle position, and get one caller in small blind. Flop is 33x. I bet, and knuckle-head goes all-in for like $15 more. I have to call. He had K3o! Who calls a raise with K3o!!!

I'm sorry about the bad beats, really. Bad play shouldn't get rewarded. In the long run good play will win, but the short term hurts...

Sorry to hear about your misfortune but it was only 4 beats (quads aside, not even bad beats). The fact you're now broke should be a lesson to you rather than a hunt for sympathy. You really shouldn't have been multi-tabling higher than NL25.

If you really love playing poker then take this beat for what it is, you were playing at limits too big for your bankroll and a few tough beats busted you. No need to lose heart, just go back to basics and learn about online poker, it's a different world to live poker. Online poker really is 1 long game (as already stated by Vito earlier) and much patience is required. Spend a few days/weeks studying online poker, do some reading, research and watch some poker vids online, there's plenty around. You'll soon want to start playing again but hopefully next time you'll be better prepared

I have, every day on the tables someone attempts to suck out on me in at least 1 hand with a gutshot draw or 55 against my paired AK hand. Poker is a game of swings with variance, and you have to mentally prepare yourself for that kind of slaughter or prepare yourself with the ability to get the heck off the tables when you start to go crazy.

You make mistakes here on every street. Preflop you raise to what? $8 that's a click-raise on a $2-$4 table and just calls his raise to $18. Should he fold QJ preflop HU for $4? Get real.

After flop you bet 1/3 of the pot and he has a great draw with 2 overcards and openended straight draw. Should he fold here? I dont think so.

Turn, again you bet very light. Hard to figure out where you have him, but if he was on a draw after that flop, there is a good chance that he had hit it. If he was holding the top pair with K kicker, he would now have 2 pairs. Should he fold? Since you had 2 kings, that's unlikely I give you that.

The all-in river move on his reraise is just awful.

So to answer your question: No, you couldnt get away from that hand, but you need to bet more on the streets instead of basically giving him free cards. And next time, just call the river there. What hand did you put him on to think that move was ok?

When people use language like that, it amuses me that they get bad beats. Especially causing them to tilt.

That last hand was tilt play, and abeit you've had bad beats, we've all had. I lost to a 1 outer for my entire BR once in a massive pot. I learned my lesson, took some time away from poker.

Rule #1: No matter how good you are, no matter how soft the game is, no matter if you took the guy for 3K in the past 4 days, don't EVER sit down at a time with your entire BR.

Rule #2: the last hand, if KK is good enough to call a re-raise then why isnt' it good enough to re-raise the re-raise and potentially push him out of the pot? You give people rope, they will hang you not themselves.

Rule #3: Running bad, TAKE A BREAK!! If you've been coolered with quads and stuff, TAKE A BREAK. Go get drunk, flash people at wal-mart, play piano, read stories to orphans. Do SOMETHING other than poker. It will help you take your mind off the game and get you focused for when you play again.

Rule #1a: As long as your a "winning" player, BR management is key to success. Don't sit down with more than 1-5% of your BR and get up and find another table if what you have at the table becomes more than 15% of your total BR (I don't really agree with the Chris Freugson numbers on BI and leave points so I modified the numbers).

Rule #Z: Upswings, rushes are good but once you pass them, you will hit major downswings, prepare thy self.

Enjoy poker and you will Enjoy the rewards (profits) of it

Default No breaks...

I went broke two weeks ago after a horrible tilt streak. I did what everyone says and sat out for a week. I came back and deposited only to find my luck has not changed a bit. I just cant catch any breaks, my AA loses to KK every time, set over set and so on.. im about to quit playing. OR atleast find a different site

Sometimes we complain about bad luck when we're actually losing because of poor play. AA getting cracked and set over set happens but it doesn't happen often enough to bust a 20BI bankroll. Maybe you have leaks elsewhere in your game?. Post some hands in the "Hand Analysis" section.

Default It happens

we all take stuff like that when you play long enough. I had quad 8's beat by a str8 flush needless to say it was instant reload. The true thing about it is to get back on the horse and ride it out or not. Fake money is not worth the time or donkfest to play. so you might have to start it lower again and work it up. even pros loose thier bankrolls to fate.

Its a bad run but I agree with people that are saying when you get crushed like that its time to give it up for the night. I try extremely hard not to tilt and it still happens, Thats when the trouble starts. when your emotional in anyway ( fighting with the spouse, boss, got a speeding ticket, ect ) Its not the time to play. You wont play at your best.

Entertainment is expensive no matter what you do go to the movies or out to dinner or my favourite paintball. so spending even 50$ and playing lower limit stuff is not alot of money for the actual entertainment value.

Good luck and may the flop be with you always.

P.S. Unless im in the hand of course.
