Default Your Limit

What normally is your limit of loss? When I'm playing online I normally do a lot of tournaments so I don't lose that much in a day. But when I go to a B&M casino I only take the amount that I'm willing to lose, usually $200, for the day. How about you? Do you know your limits?

When I'm playing online I mostly play for fun so I don't play in the high limit area. I play mostly $0.10/$0.25 games and I only take in about $10.00. If I lose that I leave but if I am winning I will play for about an hour and then leave with whatever I have left or with what I'm up. Mostly, I end up leaving up so for me that seems to be the best limits to play.

Generally, I bring 300 times the big blind to whatever game I'm going to be playing.. thats not necessarily always my limit of loss, but I don't like goign into a game without at least that much backing me up.. its enough that you should be able to survive a bad run of cards and still make some money.. depending on how bad its running or how my mental state is (one time I started feeling like I was outclassed at a table, and decided I had better just get up then, because thats a bad way to be playing poker) usually determines that..

Wow winningedge, that's quite a sum of money to be carrying around. Me, I set my limit in my entertainment budget. If I have $50 for the month to spend entertaining myself, that can go to poker. Hopefully it won't go, it'll just take a short trip and thing bring home friends.

I usually take in $20 and start with a $5 game first. If I win, then I move up to $10, $15 and $20 games.

If I lose my first game, I will then continue with $5 games until I either win, and then move up to bigger games, or lose my cash. When I start to get tired, and feel my attention wavering, I tend to call it a day until the next time.

I am hoping to move up to $100 games in due course, but its taking a while.

yea, it was kind of a lot of money, but its just the way I feel most comfortable playing.. last time I went to the casino I brought $850 with me to play 1/2 NL holdem.. max buy in was 100x the bb, so that was 3 buyins plus spending cash if needed.. 200 bucks can go pretty quick at a no limit table..

I'll admit, online I dont play for near as much though either, and I dont go to the casino often, so its not that hard to bring a nice chunk with me when i do go..

Do you have a poker account (even if it's just a tin can) that you play out of, do you use credit cards, or do you go straight for your every day cash?

Where you get the money could effect your willingness to part from it.

The source definitely affects it. I get most of my money through a few online sources. I don't ever see it or do much work to gain it, so I don't really mind losing it. My limit is usually about $50 in one game.

I dont have a poker fund per se, but I've been saving money for a house for sometime now so I dont sweat the cash when I go.. and well, really, I just never bring more cash than I would be comfortable kissing good bye.. and I would never, ever, ever use a credit card.. I hate credit with a passion, even worse when gambling is involved..

I have a separate bank roll for poker as I make part of my living by playing. Therefore I really don't have any limit for day losses. I keep playing until I feel I don't have the edge anymore.

I have an amount that I carry with me to home games. I keep it in the same place and I only use it for games. Not only does it limit my losses, but it helps me know if I'm actually up or down in the long run.

I do not like to lose more than 25 of my own money. after that i have no limit on how much i will lose. eventually i either quit with more than my 25 or nothing at all. but i dont add to my original 25. that would get out of hand like some horrible addiction if i didnt be careful.

Online I only allow myself an expendature of $40.00 per day. When I go to the casinos I will usually take about $300 per night that I am going to be there and when my limit for the day is gone I am done. I have never dipped into the next days monies just incase I would lose it all and then be stuck there with no money.

I dont have a specific limit really. I guess my limit is determined differently each time I play because I dont play with the same amount each time. Sometimes I have a lot of money to play with but regardless, I play low stakes and let it last a long time.

Back when I started playing, I invested $50 and lost it in about an hour at micro limits, lol. Then I really concentrated on my game and worked on it, invested $150 and have been lucky enough to never invest more. I play 3 NL50 tables at a time, altough I keep hearing that I should either play 2 NL50 tables at a time or one NL100. My style of play is tight-aggressive, so playing three tables at a time keeps me from making too many mistakes with questionable hands.

Poker is mostly a hobby for me, but earning some extra cash is definetely a bonus, lol. I don't win much, but enough to pay a few bills and what not with the winnings each month. Altough, I must say last month was just freaky. I managed to earn nearly $1500, which won't be happening again anytime soon, I'm sure of it.

depends of the limit i play, but I stop when I loose 2 buy in
let's say 400$ in 1/2$
or after 3/4 bad beat ! mean thant its not your day !

If you cant loose 2 buy in full stack, go down in limit

Hi All , I'm brand new here

I have poker money set aside just for that purpose if i had to use it to eat I would probably get skinny in a hurry.

A pro I used to talk to gave me this peal of wisdom. 30 Big Bets at stud if you lose it GO Home.

I use the 30 Bet limit for most ring games except Omaha Hi LO 40 bets there if it's a good game.

Online playing is an incredible roller caster but not having 2 drive 180 miles to a casino is worth the ride

The tournaments I play by ear but have gotten fond of the Sit N Go's

Jerry
