I think these 12 steps are well thought out and very good information.

The only thing I would add (although not a step, more of a summary) is most of your winnings will come from your opponents mistakes and not your own great plays.

It's surprising how many times you can be dealt the nuts, or very close to it, when you can get your opponent to commit all of his chips - either pre-flop, post flop, turn or river.

This is very true. I meant to add this to step 2 b/c People don't understand that on t.v. they have to make great plays and hard reads b/c their opponents don't make mistakes (rarely, anyway). At our level we don't need to waste our time with tough decisions. There are enough fish that we can make big bets and get flush draws and OESD's to chase without proper odds.

I think TV games can have an adverse effect on people just learning the game also, simply because televised games are edited for entertainment and time constraints. So they only show the pros playing certain hands certain ways, and it's always the big money pots that are the most entertaining that seem to make the cut for the show. What they don't show, is all the hands they fold up to the point when they finally get that winning hand, or all the mistakes they make due to playing a hand incorrectly, or even one pro sucking out on another pro. So newer players get a false sense that playing certain hands a certain way must be correct because they see the pros do it.....due to the clips that are picked through to make the show entertaining, they are only getting a small piece of the pie.

Just a thought.....

Have a good day

'Winning',.. sometimes means 'just not losing'.

I'd add a few books to the list as well. I'm really surprised at how many of my poker-playing buddies have not done any reading (or any extensive reading). I've read every poker book I could get my hands on and cannot say enough for it.
