Default calling time

so i was playing in a 1-2 cash game last nite and this old guy was taking like 2 mins for a 25 buck call on the river. so i finally called time and hes like r u serious, its been 15 secs, whats the rush. so i said it was a few minutes but wtvr. so he folds, and was prob tilting a bit. the next hand, he calls time on me preflop as soon as i look at my cards. so i stare him down for about 20 secs and the dealer had just switched so he asks whats goin on and i fold. he calls time on me for the next few hands and i dont really care but i just wanna piss him off. so i say i play online and i have even more time now than i would for any decision online, but that hell prob be more affected by it. so the next hand i yell time at him preflop and he folds and stops doing it to me. so my question now is do you ever call time on people, especially for strategic purposes?

The only time I would call time on someone is if it's been like 5 minutes. People tend to take a little more time in live play, so I don't think a couple minutes is a big deal. I probably wouldn't have called time in your situation.

Sometimes calling time can be viewed as a tell......makes people think you are eager for the opponent to make a move, signifying you have a good hand......just a thought......not to say this is always the case or that calling time is a bad thing......sometimes it is necessary, but I agree with HKM.......a few minutes is no biggie compared to 5 or more.
