Default Do you drink?

So do you have a beer while you play? Or do you think its best to not drink?

I would NEVER drink when I'm risking my money. I have seen soooooooo many people in casinos that just lose control over all thought process when they drink and to sit at a poker table or blackjack or any other money losing game without all your thought processes in tact, to me anyway, is like playing russian roulette. That "one" hand you all of a sudden think is the "best hand" I ever had could break your bank.

I will have a beer or two. But I don't have a drinking problem and when I have two beers it might be over a three hour process. But I have also seen lots of people lose a lot in casinos.

I don't think it is very advisable to drink when you have to think clearly and poker is definitely a game where you need a head on your shoulders not in your glass. If I am getting ready to leave a table and am only going to play for another 15 mins to 1/2 hour then maybe I will take a drink but other than that nope I don't drink.

If it is a friendly garage game with low stakes, I am going to have a couple of beers, just like everyone else. Sure, someone might stay a little more sober and win a little more, but I am not going to be that guy.

However, in a casino (or even when playing online) I would refrain from drinking.

I personally would not. I do drink socially, but I'm a pretty light drinker and start feeling it after even 1 glass of wine. It's not as if I'm smashed or anything but I definitely start to feel light headed, so I find it best to just abstain altogether in a competitive situation.

I have to have a few drinks to cailm myself when I am risking money on a game, plus for some reason I play better when I have had a few drinks, I think maybe it helps me not over think my play.

Real games for real money - never! Stick to the soda.

Home games with just friends, sometimes drinking it the only way to go!

I find that I don't play as well when I drink, so I choose not to do it when playing for money. Now, sometimes in a friendly game with friends from work I will do it, when we are playing a $10 cash game or something, but as a general rule, I try not to drink at all.

Oh, home games and drinking... We usually play "home" games weekends in a restaurant cabinet. Weekend + restaurant + bunch of friends gathering together = drinking.

But during the week live cash games and tournaments in the casino - usually max one beer.

i guess it would have to depend on how much is at stake...drinking a little during a game with friends with not so much money involved is fine...

While playing at casino I usually do drink a bit, sometimes more

At our home games drinking is more of a general rule, and games tend to get wild towards the end.

I never could do the drinking thing - my clothes always seem to find their way off my body. Never completely nude, but never fully dressed. Much better for me to play and stay sober!

you should not take any beer, if you will take beer, you will lose your whole money and will become unsuccessful beer.

I think most beer's parents feel they are a success.

As for drinking and playing (poker anyway) for me its just not a safe idea.

It depends, if its a friendly game for small amounts of money with just a group of friends then I usually have a beer or two. Two is always my limit. If I was playing in a casino for high stakes, then definetly not!! I need to keep my wits about me.

I hate to see these people in the casino enjoying the free booze thinking they are getting something for nothing - until they sober up and get their credit card bill for the spree.
