i dont usually drink anything, I figure if I am going to gamble my money away that I should at least do it with my head on straight, and I am afraid if I was drinking while playing then I might be more apt to let myself go over my limit. I will if its just a friendly home game though.

Alcohol affects different people differently, as we've all probably noticed ![]() Personally I can have 2-3 beers without it being a problem when playing poker, but I can certainly understand all who don't (I'm 6'3, and weigh about 220lbs so I guess that sort of helps). Some of the pros are known for having a few drinks when playing (and some do take a few too many even). The book "The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King" describes for example how Hamid Dastmalchi was drinking somewhat heavily while playing 100k-200k fixed limit hold 'em. Nice, eh ![]() Last edited by AllEars; 22nd November 2006 at 09:52 AM.

This is actually a very good question. I prefer to drink a lot in front of my computer!!! I'm sure I think slower, but the good thing is that I calm down a bit. I can easier wait for good cards and I can make my game less aggressive. (I'm to aggressive without alcohol!) Most analysis I do when I don't play, so I have what I have in my head, anyway. My observations must be worse though. Alcohol do affect you. Right? I also like to look at babes in a browser window at the same time. And I chat! Gee, I guess I could improve my game a lot with some minor changes. ;-)

I always have a beer while I play as I don't usually play for highstakes. Plus im just a begginer and not a high roller, so im in it for the fun. It's not a way of earning a living for me.

I do drink, in particular I enjoy a nice glass of wine, but I don't like to drink while I'm playing. I don't drink very much or very often, so I can have very little before it affects me. I want to stay sharp, so I stick to Diet Coke while at the tables.
