Default Drunk Poker

I can't count the number of times that I've blown my entire bankroll after a night out drinking. I would estimate that I've blown upwards of 6 thousand dollars profit thanks to playing drunk. Anyone else do anything similar? Or anyone have any advice on how to prevent this (besides not drinking or throwing my computer out the window before I drink)?

I don't drink anymore but when I did I wouldn't put myself within 10 feet of a computer or live game. Playing drunk is very risky business...and while some will say "oh yeah I do great when I'm drunk" what they fail to realize is just because they made a few bucks doesn't mean they were at the top of their game.

Not really sure what advice could be given, since it's a matter of your own self-control and will power at play.

Default a little booze helps the chips fly

right out the window.
BELIEVE ME the more sober you are, the better you will play.
Playing 1-4 outers while drinking will become the norm in the stuper of alcohol.

If you think you can play poker drunk and win with consistancy, then you probably think you are a better driver after drinking.

Drink responsibly and win!

Default Word...

Yea man I totally get you, And why is it that drunk poker is so god dam fun. And it’s not like anyone plays good drunk. Everyone knows, you just end up playing that dirty poker, that you need almost shower after poker. Those 1 and 2 outers that you enjoy taggin that tightwad nit with (poor guy).

So you ready to learn how to NOT PLAY DRUNK POKER.

1. You unselect the auto login so you need a password every time.

2. Make sure prior to drinking for the night you or even better yet a trusted friend changes your pass word for you.

3. Tell your self you’re not going to play and you can’t play even if you wanted to. After a while you won’t need to resort to such methods as you will have trained yourself to show restraint.

(If you can’t trust a friend, change your password to a string of numbers and leave your Mom, brother, girlfriend etc. a Voice Mail with the numbers and instruct them not to tell you until the following day.)

I play better at 9-max when I've had a margarita, but no one more than 1

nothing beats 4 tabling 9-maxs, sipping a margarita and running like the hindenberg!

Default mmmm duff

if you like playing drunk (like me) set up a new account with a couple hundred bucks in it and play on it when you get drunk. that is actually why i started quite a few accounts on different poker websites. you will get the fun of playing drunk and not the burn the next morning. hey maybe even the runhot button will be on because of the new account and you will wake up rich.

Thats the only way i play poker lol.... just kidding but I do smoke a lot and drink sometimes before playing poker. I actually find that I play better NLH tourneys better when I'm drunk. I think it's that i have a reason for my crazy bluffs, just say I'm drunk. But I only do play small buy in tourneys...I never try to play cash games drunk....thats where it gets crazy. And not smart to play drunk

i'd agree with not playing cash games when you're drunk.

if i'm drunk and want to play, i'll usually just move down a level in the tournaments, then i don't really care if i play badly and lose. or sometimes i'll just stay at the same levels. you can't lose too much money in a short period playing tournaments, as long as you don't play too high stakes.

so if you're drunk, stick to tournaments!

Slight edit to the above....

If you're drunk, stick to FREEROLLS

That way you're not kicking yourself when you sober up

Lol....It's all about controlling yourself... you dont need to go down to freerolls....As long as you dont go higher buy-ins.

Default Bankroll Management

I have said it before and I will say it again.

You should NEVER EVER put yourself into the position to blow your bankroll in one game, one session, or even one week!

If being drunk, stoned, medicated, sober or any other condition affects your poker thinking, by all means do not do it and play. I have played in all mind conditions but one thing is drilled into my head, protect the bankroll. It does not matter if I am sauced, stoned or straight, I will play a $5 or $10 sitNgo when my account is at $500. I do not risk the roll. The sooner you grasp this concept the better off you will be. If not, it will be a rough road, you will hit bottom again when risking everything on a regular basis.

If you simply can not control yourself when hammered, then next happy hour give your computer power cord to a friend until you sober up. Losing the entire bankroll is a tough lesson although it should be a good one, if it happens over and over, the lesson is obviously lost.

Good Luck,

Good Luck,
I been playing poker for a few years. I understand bankroll management, and to be a winning poker player you have to play always protecting your bankroll like you said. But I smoke just about every day bud that is, drink once in a while. I'm not a losing player even doing all those things. So you can have a drink or 2 and still play poker you just can't go crazy with it, and start playing more then your roll can afford. And like I said before anytime I think I am too drunk or whatever I would move down tourney buy-ins or go down in cash games which I NEVER try to play drunk, cause you can lose a lot more in a cash game.

For me personally there's a difference between drinking whilst playing and coming home drunk trying to play. No problem with the former as my focus on the game remains the same but coming home drunk is just totally different for me. I'm totally cold with no feel for the table and my mind is still probably outside. Fortunately I can easily sleep in this situation so I know just to turn it off.

If being drunk affects your play that much just dont do it or if you really need to play then play for fun chips and banter with the other drunken donks doing the same

My friend ran into a drunk guy in a heads up game last week. Funniest story I ever heard. The guy apparently sat and was like "play nice I have dohteat drik in hand.." Whatever that means. Sat at a $.5-$1 heads up with $156.45 Then he proceeded to go all in every time. My friend matt had $241 so was like alright I will play your game. 9 hands in picks up QQ and calls. THe guy turns over 5 6 off and the QQ holds. THe guy then says. "Yo why so mean I was on a roll there. Hold on I gotta reload while im hot." (Im laughing my ass off at this point.) My friend sits out and waits. 5 min later they guy sits back with $200 and proceeds to do the same thing. ALL IN ALL IN ALL INALLINALLINALLIN!!! and he waits and gets AK calls and the guy shows A2 and AK holds. THis proceeded for the next 2 hours and 8 reloads later. GOTTA LOVE DRUNKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just wish I was as lucky as him to have money falling from the sky like that. lol

if you have full tilt they have an option under requests > responsible gambling > self exclusion. you can do it for up to a couple months but the smallest amount of time is 24 hours so you won't be able to wake up and play but you also won't wake up broke.....as i have done so many times as well before

That's an interesting idea right there...never knew about that option, but then, never needed it either
