This is a no-brainer. The BEST thing to slow play would be the Full House, but the riskiest yet most profitable one to slow play is the Flush, espically if you have the nut flush.
Lets say you have K 10 suited on the button with 5 callers behind you (7 including the blinds). The flop comes K K 10 with two of the same suit. You have the nuts and most likely someone will be chasing or have two pair. You could even be up against aces and they might push thinking you have two pair. But against one or two people with that same flop, chances are they didn't hit that flop, and have no draw. So if you want more money out of the Full House, it's better to have lots of people in the pot when slow playing.
When you flop the nut flush with 5 people (7 including the blinds), chances are two of them are going to have that suit in your hand. Lets say you have A 2 spades on the button and the flop comes out 3 7 10 all spades. Someone might have two pair (most likely the blinds), or someone might have trips (unlikely, but possible against so many people). Those are the only two hands you DON'T want people to have when you flop the nut flush and you want to slow play it. The best thing would be if someone had the K of spades, and another spade fell on the turn and or river. As long as the board doesn't pair, you have the nuts. Someone might have K Q spades and have flopped the second nuts, and if no more spades came out on the turn or river, and the board didn't pair, you pretty much knocked him out.
These are all if if if situations. If he has this, if this comes, if this doesn't come, etc. Basically, if you are someone who is a gambler, you would want to slow play the nut flush (or second nut flush, or something like that). If you are more of a safe player, or one who wants to have the best hand guaranteed and if someone else has an ok hand, you are waiting for them to make a mistake, then you would want to slow play the nut full house. And in these two situations, you are hoping for the other person to make a mistake. |
