| In poker, there is no one game where "You make the most money", it's all about how good you play that one, or multiple games. Many people play Holdem because it's straight forward, the odds are not that hard to figure out, and since so many people play it, there is a lot of money in Holdem. That doesn't mean that Omaha isn't a great game to make money off of. Like I said before, you need to know how to play the game before you can be any good at the game. If you were to be an avid Holdem player, then you all of a sudden go into Omaha, then you would lose SO much money playing thinking it's Holdem. But in fact, that's how many experienced Omaha players make money. So for future referene, there is no real answer to this question, as everyone would have a different answer (of course, the majority would say Holdem, but that's because so many people play it apposed to a game like lilady posted earlier, Razz. Me personally, my game that I make the most money off of is HORSE. That's Limit Holdem, Omaha 8oB (H/L), Razz, Stud, Stud 8oB (H/L) in that order.

| In Omaha (especially Hi/Lo) the pots are much bigger and therefore if you can scoop the pot then you can win a really nice pot. In Omaha since everybody chases, you win more in Omaha than Holdem, in theory that is. Of course you're playing more hands also which means that you are risking more. In the end, the biggest pots go to Omaha, IMO. |

| holdem v. omaha game play varies do you like to suck out on hands? then play omaha are you patient? holdem represents personally I have cashed more playing omaha most people usually get a little mixed up playing omaha, and get caught in the moment of using the wrong amount of cards. they think they have a hand but forget to use 2 cards in your hand and 3 cards on the board. omaha's cards odds get me excited the most since a 9 out draw can generate some serious outcomes. be willing to ride the up and down wave in omaha as well, since you can't win without seeing a flop. pineapple anyone? the H/L games take too long, and in the end bad play can usually win.

| i think i remember hearing a pro (think it was durrrr) say he's better at hold'em, but other people are worse at omaha. i think if you can really get to grips with and understand omaha, you'll find you make more money from that than hold'em. i've been looking at getting a book on omaha. the ones recommended to me were: Secrets of Professional Pot-Limit Omaha: How to Win Big, Both Live and Online by Rolf Slotboom POT-LIMIT OMAHA POKER: The Big Play Strategy by Jeff Hwang i personally find playing hold'em cash games to be a bit boring, seeing as i only play one table at a time (14" monitor and multitabling = NO! :P). enjoy the tournaments though. PLO cash games are more involved and more fun, so i'm looking to get better at it. btw, has anyone read any good PLO books that they'd recommend? |

| ok phosphorescence, you are correct. the reason i brought this question to the table is for that right there. you might be better at holdem but there are a lot of fish in omaha, and its easy to make tons of money. do you know that durr made 1mil in 1 session the other day at omaha ![]() ![]() |

| umm Online, Ohama games almost always have higher avg pots than same limit hold'em games. Live tho, it is most def Ohama. I've watched over $14,000 Ohama pots unfold (I wasn't play at the table but a crowd was gathering when like half the table is all in). Hold'em , the games i've seen, havn't had as big of a pot yet (but I am sure I will see one when I move to $10-$25, next decade).

| no holly i didn't see that about durrrr. i saw that he lost $1.2mil the other day though, about 600k on the HA table and the other 600k on hold'em n omaha tables. he doesn't do wins n losses by halves does he lol he got quite angry when he was playing HU hold'em with LarsLuzak, when they got it all in on the turn when durrrr had top 2 pair n Luzak had the nut straight - he wrote in the chat box 'poker is dumb. ima go work in mcdonalds' lol. maybe it was because larsluzak took about a year in his extra Time before check raising all in with the nuts lol. durrrr's great to watch though, him n ziigmund especially. wyte why don't you play online anymore? thought you did pretty well. i'm tending to lean more to playing online than live, mainly because where i go to uni is quiet n i can't get a game, but i think i'm better online anyway. i've bought that rolf slotboom book for xmas, so hopefully i'll be able to start crushing the plo game soon! ![]() |

Well I had to move my BR offline for finicial reasons and to get my life back in order but also to get into live play since I do wanna play professionally within the next few years. My live play is soo much better than online (much better RoI and $/hour live than online). The biggest reason I am back to working rather than playing full time is, I am very very serious about going pro. I want to make sure I have enough money behind me to handle all kinds of swings, up,down....whatever. I got a plan worked out to where I will play some (limited play right now, increasing as I meet certain goals), but work harder, saving up money. As I increase my BR thru work/limited play, I will increase my play hours per week, until I reach a certain goal, then quit one of my jobs, start taking SOME income from my poker and BR the rest. and eventually work my way out of my jobs and back into full time play. and Yes I will be the Bubble boy at the 2009 WSOP ME ![]() and yes, I am a horrible speller ![]()
