Default Interesting...

I guess this proves you can't always judge a player by their sharkscope stats...

The following image is the sharkscope stats of a well-known poker pro. This pro has published books, won events, and his name is almost as common as chips in poker. In respect for his privacy, I've blacked out his screen name on the stats...

Just thought this was surprising to see given these are the stats of a well-known professional...

Why would you protect a poker pro? Why not just post there username?

Call it courtesy, I guess...there are plenty of people that don't appreciate their stats being thrown about...especially when the stats don't necessarily reflect their skill level. As in the above case, if you didn't know this was a professional's stats, what would you assume about him as a player? Point made.

PS > If I hadn't blacked out his username, you would still easily be able to tell who it was. I'll give you a hint, though, if it's just going to drive you crazy.

He's from Rancho Palo Verde, CA......

Wouldnt read too much into those stats, its still a miniscule sample size, and btw said player is a cash game specialist

Yes thanks irish I know The point I am trying to get across with this is that if someone just randomly ran across these stats and didn't know who it was, they'd immediately form a mental opinion of this player, small sample or not, which is why I say in essence, you can't always judge a book by the cover

Well I never believe Sharkscope all the time in the first place. My stats are all wacked for fulltilt.

I'd venture to guess that 98% of good players' stats are whacked on Full Tilt, gamer. That site is ridiculous LOL

Not all aspects of scarkscope will pinpoint a player to a tee.
Most of all because lots of people start playing online and are wreckless with their money, but eventually learn to play better, therefore may be a MUCH MUCH better player than the stats suggest.

I like the graph charts, you can get a better idea of the player by looking at recent history.

You can also use it to analyze yourself, Like what day or time of day you are more succesful.

All these little things we do to fine tune our game, add up.

It's like any other tool, it's all how you use it.

BTW, it only keeps up with S&G and MTT stats, so someone may still be a profitable cash player but not so good a tourney player.

BTW, his total profit looks bad, but look at his avg. stake. He's prolly just on a downswing.
A few wins at that stake, he's back in the green.

His Average ROI, eventho not in the positive, it's pretty close to zero. This tells me that he's no fish.

Did you know only about 30% of the players in the sharkscope data base show profit?

This is why i like 9 man S&G's, top 33.3333 % players getting paid. It's a slow grind, but keeps me in the top 30%.

I totally agree with the post lil lady. I got into a argument with a guy at the tables the other day about this very thing. He uses sharkscope religously and I told him you cant judge a player totally by that because some players play 80% cash and 20% tournaments. Plus if someone gets an awesome run of cards and wins a good paying tournament; there sharkscope will like very good when they could be a poor player. Just my opinion. I have looked at sharkscope, but I put more emphasis on my encounters with any giving player.

Amen, I caught hell on a regular basis because of my Shark Scope. As much as I hate HU cash games, those have been my "cash" cows
