Default Lets take the Chris Ferguson challenge!

The title says it all. I am trying to go from $0 - $1,000 as a personal goal to see if it's not just the fame that Chris Ferguson went from $0 to $10,000, but if it truly is Proper Bankroll Management that got him there.

In order to do this, I have decided to take on the challenge myself. It recently came to me that other people might want to try it out also. rakeback sponsors some freerolls that might get us on our feet if we cash, FullTiltPoker.Com runs freerolls constantly (it's better to view there freerolls through the Play Chip tab) and daily, and some of us might even be getting rakeback into your account.

So here is the challenge. You must go from $0 (absolutely nothing, or a new account) to a certain goal at or above $1,000 (I say $1,000 because it will make it a real accomplishment and a true goal. Plus, it really puts the Chris Ferguson challenge to the test at the higher levels). Chris Ferguson took it to $10,000 in about a year. So I am going to say I can get up to $1,000 in 7 months. There is no time limit to whoever joins, I just make a rough estimate for myself. Remember, it took Chris over 6 months to get a steady bankroll of only $6!

I will have a list of people who wish to take the challenge with me. My username on FullTiltPoker.Com is gamer4life27. I will be trying to do this on FullTiltPoker.Com. You may do this on other sites if you wish (PokerNordica.Com, PokerStars.Com, etc.) If you wish to join in, simply PM me saying you want to join, or post here saying you want to take the challenge. I want to have weekly updates from everyone starting this up and coming Saturday (July 5, 2008), but I will update this list daily of people who wish to join. So lets get this started!

Oh, and if anyone has any questions, want to know when the best time to play is, or which freerolls are the best, PM me here.

Bty, I saw the pic for the Better Get There blog series and thought about making a pic to promote this thread. It's not much, since I don't have Photoshop, but it's a little something I did in paint. Here it is:

Copy and paste the following to get this image and link back to this forum:

lol hell I dont know, I am working with support right now to get my password. apparently I put in the wrong city when registering at absolute. the one thing I do know is the email address, so when I figure out my absolute screen name I will post it.

I will just try to do what you are doing, the 0 to 1000 goal, I went from 50 to 1000+ on full tilt in a few months, but that wasnt using strict proper bankroll management. I will follow Chris' rules for the challenge.

Yes, thats the whole point of this challange is the bankroll part.

But theres no hurry, I figure it will take me months before I earn a steady small bankroll. So whenever you fix it, just post it.

Sounds interesting, but the only time I have to play is on the weekends, so it'd take me 5 times as long as people who can play every day LOL

Well with these freerolls sponsered by Rakeback, and the new ones on FullTiltPoker, I think it might be possible for you to do it. Plus, this is to teach us EXTREME discipline for Bankroll Manegment. Who knows, one good cash in a freeroll and you could be on your way to your goal.

You know you want to sign up.

LOL Oh, I do, do I? Last time I checked I detested freerolls LOL

But, if it means that much to you, I guess I could tolerate it for a bit...

Hmm...well, I suppose if I'm really going to challenge myself, I'll choose Absolute, since they have very frequent freeroll tournaments. I did away with Absolute a while back when the whole scam thing came about, but perhaps I'll give it a second chance, just for this experiment. The username I'll be using is WindDancer07, and since my huge lack of playing time will be a major factor, I will conservatively set my goal at $500 and give myself, oh, let's just say until February, at the most.

Edit: Oops, I just noticed you said "a goal of at or above $1000" --- so if that's the case, then I guess I'll have to go with $1000 and give myself until July 1st of 2009.

This should be interesting...the best I've ever done as far as Poker Stars was 10th out of 12,000...took 6 hours I've placed on FTP a couple times here and there, but there was nowhere near so many entrants, and the play is ultra loose, which I can't stand....gets my britches in a bunch LOL Nordica freerolls are best because of the 10K weekly and 50K monthly they have....I got $150 from the 50K in May...placed in a few before on Ultimate Bet...nothing major...chump change, of course.

Thing is, I have won 1st in play chip tourneys on Absolute, the last one paid over $85K in play chips, but never have I placed in a money freeroll on that site, so this is also a personal goal...to finally break that lingering empty slot on my wall of freeroll cashes LOL

I have a healthy flow of cashes in freerolls but they are soo boring. I usually just sit out the first hour and when I come back the fields are down 50-75% lol. After that, it somewhat returns to normal poker

Yeah, well as I said before honestly I detest freerolls, but the times that I have been bored enough to play them, I haven't done completely horribly LOL

Like the vid...but that ain't me...give me a sec and I'll show you me...

Wyte22, if you wish to join, please post your username, the site you will be doing this test on, and your personal goal.

liladypokerpro: There is no time limit, just to let you know. And on AbsolutePoker, they have this promotion that if you hit 10m in play chips or something like that, you get $50 in cash. Take advantage of this.

Edit: I just found out that you have to make a deposit for this promotion liladypokerpro. So if you still want to keep up with the rules of no depositing, you can deposit, and withdraw that amount of money to and from your account to get that $50 bonus.
