My very basic goal for July.

My goal for this month (July 08) is to play 5,000 real money hands online. This doesn't count freerolls or anything like that and it doesn't count sit and gos either -- although I am not playing many of those these days so it wouldn't matter.

This might not seem like a lot to most people on here. But for the month of June I played 1,100 real money hands. That's only about 37 hands a day. And that is about right for my session length and time. I don't have a lot of time to commit to poker most days.

This 5,000 hands will also have to be done when I will be spending a lot of time on the road and with family and probably at a few places without internet access. The way I figure it, I will need about 250 hands a day to make sure I get there with all the down time I am expecting. I also spend most of my time on only one table... so people who play 4-6 tables at a time will think it's funny to reach "only" 250 hands a day. But at one table, that can be 4 hours.

Anyway, that is my goal. It's probably a very basic goal for most people. It's not about winning a certain amount or anything like that. It's just about playing more.

Note: Part of this goal requires that I keep track of each session (hands played, buy-ins, and all that) so I will have a decent base of data to play with when the month is over. But to build that base, I need to play and that's the biggest thing. I need to commit to it.

Well, I am not off to the greatest start. I had a bad run for a while there -- which is finally turning around -- but I was playing. I am not meeting my goal yet. At 250 hands a day, I would be around 2,000 hands right now. But things are coming along and I planned for some problem days. I missed a whole day of play when my younger sister got alcohol poisoning and ended up in the hospital. . . so I shouldn't expect to be on track here.

So I need to play about 150 hands a day (every day for the rest of the month) or only 15 days at my original goal of 250 hands a day. So it can be done.

Bankroll is at: $297 (not counting the $5 MTT shootout I am entering, otherwise it would be $302).

Goal for July: $600. I might hit it before the 15th if I keep this roll going

If I hit $600 before the 15th, my new goal will be 1K in my BR by the end of the month.
