i was wanting to post this thread because of a thread i saw earlier i was wondering in your own words what do you think the definition of poker is and the way you think to be very affective at playing CASH games and TOURNEYS i will be posting my answer later on today feel free to post aanything you feel should be said upon the topic not just your answer to my question

Let's see...well, defining poker...it's a card game of skill, math and luck and is the only sport where a "nobody" can take down a "pro."

As far as the Cash game vs. the Tourney, I can only say this...

In Cash games, you have the luxury of TIME and CHOICE. You can wait for your monster and then build your roll at your leisure, and get up and change tables or limits whenever the mood strikes you to do so.
In many cases you can play your typical tight/aggressive game and profit well.

In Tournaments, you do not have the luxury of TIME or CHOICE, so you've got to be comfortable enough with your skills to adjust your play accordingly. You've got to know when to play a little more loosely and when to tighten up, but always be aggressive when possible. Try not to call too much or check, and if you have a good solid read on a player, take full advantage of it.
