Default Poker Quizzes (Poll)

I'm just curious about something....my wheels started turning again That happens a lot...especially in the wee hours of the morning

Anyway, how many of you really think online poker quizzes can accurately determine how poker "smart" you are?

Take into consideration how many different styles of poker there are, and how there can be many different ways to play any hand correctly given the table, stacks, opponent styles, etc...etc...

For example, an aggressive player might answer a quiz question one way, whereas a conservative player might answer another way.....but does this necessarily mean that either of their styles is "wrong?"

Interested to see the replies to this...my curiosity is peaked once more...

I pretty much hate those quizzes - oftentimes they will be short on info, be very general, and not really of much use without an explanation of why something is right

I had to vote for "yes" but mostly because I was thinking of the 3rd book in the Harrington on Hold'em Series. I believe the book comes a long way towards correcting for most of the problems you mentioned quizzes having. Different answers count for different points based on how strong they are and how correct they would be. There is some accounting for different styles... and when the points don't show it, Harrington is up front saying it's his book so the answer he liked got more points.

And, finally, every question has a detailed explanation of why each answer was right/wrong and worth that many points.

i love poker quizzes, you have poker quizzes? where? well if you do i'll find them.
it's not so much that they prove your skillful, as much as the challenge and the fun of it, it's all good!! i like the responses, especially when people start tiltting, and argueing, sometimes it's funny!!

I don't think that quizzes can accurate measure your "poker IQ." I do think though, when reviewed in the correct context, they may open your eyes to some things.

You might go with an option for a needlessly aggressive play and the explanation on a different play, might make your realize this.

There is definitely something to be learned from the quizzes. As the very least, you could learn how people play under a different style.

Wow the poll is closer than I thought. Apparently this is a definite Yin and Yang thing. Keep the opinions coming!

Yes, I think they give you a general base to determine you game level.
You don't have to score 100%, but getting in the upper ballpark will show your on to something.
If your doing poorly in these quizes, Then I'd expect to see flaws in your game and don't project you to be profitable over the long haul.

BTW, just my 2 cents
