Poker Superstition...

Do you believe in certain poker superstitions, such as these I've heard:

A particular seat (next to the dealer, for example) is unlucky;

I can't play unless I wear a certain item of clothing;

I always play a certain time of day or else I lose;

I have heard a number of superstitions and I am anxious to see what yours are, if any.

It's not a real superstition but I only play with money I am comfortable losing. I find that I play terribly when I am worried about losing and how it can effect me. Even the cards seem worse when the money means a lot to me -- which is probably just my impression.

I enjoy playing for fun stakes that mean very little to me. When losing could mean not buying groceries... I suddenly can't find a hand worth playing.

Apart from that, I don't really have any. I've never been one for luck. Never had a good-luck charm growing up or got into rituals to improve my luck. Figured I could managed whatever was coming without those things.

Lol that's not a superstition, that's just good sense. Would that everybody at the tables would have that kind of attitude.

And as for me, I don't know that I'd call it superstition or what but I never win when my husband is anywhere near me. And the same goes for him. He will actually give me money to leave him alone at the poker table.

i personally dont ahve any superstitions, however i have noticed patterns in my own and other peoples playing combined with this one:
I always play a certain time of day or else I lose;
but that is mainly because of who you play at given times a day. it's a known fact that most pros start playing during the evening or night and therefore it might be harder for normal hobbyists or semi pros to win at this given time a day.

me i seem to play better when i can listen to music and when im not listening to music i dont seem to concentrate as well but thats just me.

If you ever want a 4 leaf clover let me know I've got a bunch of them lol They are real ones too I pick them in the spring and seal them onto index cards and give them to people. Just a fun little thing I like to do....some people claim they work....but then I suppose anything can seem to work if you believe in it enough.


You know what I thought about doing also? I thought about putting them in plastic coin holders and make kind of like a card capper out of them...what do you think??

Yea I think thats a great idea. I would love to have a four leaf clover maybe its the extra luck i need. LOL Ty very much
