I went with don't care as long as I win.

However, I take it you mean an all-in pre-flop? I'll take a pocket pair every single time rather than two overcards, and the reason is very simple: pocket pair is a made hand, two overcards mean you have a drawing hand and need some help.

Worst case scenario is that you are basically tied with 22 vs. AKsuited, altough the AK is 49.77% to win, 22 is 49.60%. Nevertheless, 22 is a ready hand. A weak hand, but still ahead of the ace high. If the AK is offsuit, 22 is 52.75% to win the hand.

So in short, mathematically the pocket pair is a favorite to win over two overcards, so you have to go with that.

Depends on the bet...I would rather play a small pair on a low bet only...

Default Small Pairs = Big Profit

I play 1/2 no limit on FTP and small pairs are by far my most profitable starting hands. Normally when I play I will call any raise preflop up to 1/8th of somebody's stack. In cash games every time you flop a set SOMEBODY will pay you off with top pair even with a week kicker (even a better reason to keep the preflop bet cheap). As the stakes get higher people will lay down hands like AK more often, but the large majority of internet players at stakes up to 3/6 will stack off to you. I advise anybody who plays low stakes no limit to play every small pair at a cheap price and be patient. Sets are always the hardest hands to put people on and have a lot of disguised value. If you combine this with an agressive table image you can build a bankroll quickly. Plus, if you miss your set on the flop, muck it and move on. Hope this can help. Good luck at the tables, if anybody has a contrasting style I would love to hear it.

Interesting - poll currently showing overcards as the preferred choice, think I would choose overcards despite odds, but that's probably why I only cash in 30% of my games. Perhaps I should take this on board and change my style

Under pair always. You know when you're good most of the time, and when you set up, youre golden. However that philosophy didn't quite work for me tonight, I lost 6 buyins (600 dollars) tonight on sets. Some ridiculous calls, and it has really messed with my mind. However these beats happen I suppose... problem is I just get the feeling I am doomswitched on FTP since I got chat-banned, hahaha. Oh boy... anyone else feel the same way?

underpairs because if you trip up you almost always win the hand.

I voted 'Don't care as long as I win'. But after reading the comments I guess, I should have gone for underpair, lol. Ah well, live and learn.

To me its how the day is going because I can do good on high over and get killed on pcks, then another day do well with pcks and die on high overs. So in saying this you also have to watch the flow of the cards whats being coming and in what position and replay is good to use to help you see what to call and what to fold.
I hope this helps sorry if it doesn't make sense.

GOOD LUCK all on and off the felt

When talking no limit poker, any case can be correct. Now, if we are putting all the money in pre-flop and see what happens, then I go with the math and would rather have the pair. If you have to actually play the hand through to the river, the flop and oppponent behavior determines which direction taken.

Everyone should be cautious when playing any pair under KK, and even the cowboys are limited, I hate when KK shrinks up to a junk, junk, ace flop. Decision time......

Have Fun and hit those trips!!

I went with underpair simply because it's a made hand , even 22 is the favorite preflop lol , it's after the flop that the trouble starts, even so the overcards have to hit to win the underpair doesn't lmaooo , good question !
