Default hi all

I was the dealer and had A K non-suited blinds were 3,000 and 6,000. I only raised it to 12,000 and the big blind called. Needless to say he flopped trips and I lost all of my chips. He called with 8 4 and hit 2-4's on the flop. Should I have tried to buy the blinds or played it like I did. I had 65,000 chips and was 13 out of 17 players left.
