Default Horrible Run....Beaten Down & Out of Answers :(

Well this is my first post since joining rake bake about two weeks ago and it’s not going to be a good one.

Let me first start off by saying that I really enjoy the community here at rakeback.com and look forward in getting to know everyone!

I know everyone hates a complainer but I need help dealing with this as I don’t want to quit playing poker, so please hear me out.

I wouldn’t consider myself an amateur but nor would I consider myself the best player either. I play low limit 6 & 9 ringer Omaha H and Omaha H/L due to my limited amount of funding. Starting about 6 weeks ago I have been on the worst run of losing hands since I’ve played online poker and do not know how to deal with it anymore.

Every time I have my money in with the best hand or drawing to the nuts, open ended, open ended w/ nut flush draws, top set, just crazy hands that either never hit or get sucked out on with ridiculous calls or someone calling with a draw and hitting a hand that they were obviously never trying to hit, to suck out on me.

It is very hard to sit down at 2-4 tables and lose every time I’m involved in a large pot day after day. I have changed games, amount of tables played, you name it w/ no help. I have been mentally drained; my self confidence is shot and I’m now at a loss of understanding and answers.

I do apologize for complaining as I’m sure you have heard this story numerous times in the past but I’m trying to better myself as a player and as a person in this adversity. I’m trying to better myself as a player and as a person in this adversity.

Thanks in advance for your honest input!

But sounds like you could use a break away from poker.

lol and it was quoted by someone else, so even editing it out wont work, gotta ask nino nicely to edit his post too.

On the topic of losing every time, just take a break, a few days, a week, a few weeks, whatever it takes to give you the itch back, and then open a new poker book or something poker related to give you a fresh perspective on how to play correctly, then dive back into the tables a few days after you begin studying poker again.

Relax. Play smaller limits. Give yourself some time to relax.

Read another poker book or to. Maybe try to find something specialized to your styl eof play and go from there.

Sometimes, just giving yourself time, evaluating yourself, and looking at the game with a fresh perspective can do wonders.

Already sent him a PM regarding this (nino, plz check your PM ).

Yeah it sucks that I exposed that information I just never knew that it was an issue. If worst comes to worst, there are always new poker sites out there.

Either way I'm to concerned about that atm as I have committed to a long break. I am trying to interact with the poker community as you guys better understand ways to cope with running bad. I do appreciate the input so far.

Yep there are plenty of sites out there, and many that rakeback affiliates with, so if worst comes to worst, you can always relocate. My girlfriend and I shared a FT account before I ever joined rakeback, and I never knew that couples could not share a single account before that. So, the point of this story is just to say that everyone makes mistakes when we are ill-informed. Don't worry about it. As long as it was unintentional, then everything should work out alright.

Well it's not for any of us to judge or decide. The powers that be will inevitably make the decision, but until then, how about posting a new thread elsewhere so this will no longer hinder your post here...

Been on many a bad run myself,it does affect the way you play sometimes, the best way to get through it i find, is to play lower limit games even sometimes as low as $1 untill the period has passed it will pass eventually it may take 1000 hands it may take 2000 hands or even more all you can do is reduce your losses ,try not to go on tilt, and play your normal game.

Default Hmmm

There is some good advice here, let me add some.

You play primarily low stakes omaha and omaha hi/lo. These are very dangerous games since omaha is a drawing game to begin with. Add in the hi/low split and the low stakes, and you are looking at a wild ride. Getting the chips in with the best of it in omaha hi/low while still a good play, is exposed to far more pitfalls than other forms and levels of poker. Too many draws on each and every hand of omaha hi/low.

My suggestion is to move to holdem, or if you enjoy omaha that much, play in tourneys instead of cash games. Players are a little more wary of their chips when in a tournament situation. Besides that, keep playing and studying. Adjust your game as you go. No matter what game or level you play, make sure your bankroll can absorb a losing streak, never play above your means.

Later,
