Taking a beat with 3 kings sure sucks, but what are you doing with less than one small blind remaining? Even if you win that hand you have an M of <2 with those blinds and antes. It's hard to be upset about bad beats when you can't even push with enough chips to force a call larger than the blind.

I have to agree with Huskers on this one. Unless you just took a beat in the previous hand you played that left you with 1500 chips, your stack was too small to compete even if the kings held up. In large tourneys you can not let the blinds catch up with you. Most will say around 10 times the BB in a large tourney is the lowest they will let their stack get before shoving all in with lesser hands. I will go to about 7-10 times BB depending on position.

Even if your kings would have held you would have had about 4500 chips (two callers to your all in). That is still not enough to even double the BB. The advantage of going all in earlier is you still have enough chips to make everyone fold, thus you win without risking a suckout. If your stack is low, the others should call and try to take you out, they are getting a good price for their chance.

Your kings should have been good but you had no ammo left to get anyone to fold. Suckouts happen but, if you make others pay to play, you will win those hands automatically when they fold.

JJ was probably not going to fold, but your stack was seriously low at the time.

its not even that bad of a beat. Things like that happen all of the time. I was thinking i was goign to see a royal over a straight flush or something like that

If it feels bad, and you end up beat, u can call it bad beat. If u want that is.

If it needs to be a quads vs quads minimum to be a badbeat, u rarely get to see real badbeats.

And btw, I think this was about 'Ouch. This hurt.' not a bad beat alltogether.

But yea. On the other hand, this is a fairly typical situation where the top pocket pair loses even if it was improved to a set. Hope u got something out of that tournament.
