Default Taxable Winnings

I was just wondering wheather or not if an australian won a substantal amout at an online poker site wheather tax would be taken from your winnings as we have allready paid tax on our money before it goes onto a site or for that matter what the going rate of tax it is if it does have to be paid?

I can't say about Australia, but here in Europe EU citizens do not have to pay taxes on poker winnings from rooms located within the ETA. This is because the poker room already pays taxes, and therefore player is not double taxed. Players should still declare taxes on winnings from other poker rooms.
