Default What other card games do you like to play?

Before I started out with poker I started playing spades and tonk. The way my friends and I played tonk was just two of a kind or three with possibly dueces and jokers wild. I also liked playing black jack. I am actually pretty good at that.

For several years before poker I was playing the collectible card game Magic: The Gathering. Once even made it to 16th at the world championships in Tokyo

It was my MTG friends that started playing online poker, and got me interested as well.

I like to play solitare. It is always fun for me. It's good for me when I am getting ready to play a poker game. It gets me relaxed and ready to play a good game. Its good to be relaxed when playing poker, just can't be nervous or else you loose your concentration and end up loosing all your money.

Mollila, 16th place at Magic WC is impressive. I've known a few Magic semi-pros, and it is a hard game to keep the skills up at.

As for card games, Freecell is extremely addicting (yeah I am looking at you Microsoft!).
Blackjack is relaxing to play, if one doesn't worry about card counting.

Playing Black Jack is fun for me. It is fast and easy. All you have to do is add up your cards and try to get 21. I can't say I ever won a whole lot playing Black Jack. I don't really get a lot of chance to play it. I only play it at the casinos. I don't go to casinos much now days, gas is so high.

I started out playing spades. I have a lot of extended family who get together every summer for a reunion (believe it or not, this family reunion is a LOT of fun!) and we always have a spades tournament. Everyone takes it quite seriously and we usually stay up all night playing. I've been playing spades since I was 9 or so.

I started playing in the tournament when I was 13 (family rule) and I won it for the first time at age 23, and have won two other times since.

No money involved, just a cheesy baseball cap if you win.

Apparently playing spades is a unwritten rule. It is always is an interesting game to play on teams. My family and my friends are notorious about getting a big game started. I think we played so much my 5 year old nephew knew how to play.

i find spades hard...blackjack is easier since you only have to count the cards...

I like Blackjack. My dad taught me and my sisters when I was about 8 years old.

I hadn't thought that about spades - bridge, yes!

I play them all, except tonk. I've heard of it and I know there are folks around here that play, but it's never been my game of choice; hearts, spades, rook, rummy.

I like to play hearts and solitaire. I used to love to play canasta, but I haven't played it in so long, I forgot how to play it.

my favorite game besides poker is euchre. its a game where you use basically only the face cards and the tens. sometimes the nines are thrown in to add to the odds. my grandma taught me how to play this when i was five years old........ i could never figure out (at five yrs old) why i would want to order her up if i wanted to call something trumps.....i thought that a risky situation on my part. but i managed to figure all that out by the second grade .. lol

Having small kids around we have been playing a lot of Go Fish and Crazy 8's. I really like the game War and I am awsome at playing Rummy. It is really hard to find someone to play Rummy with though since most of the people that i know that know how to play it are older and can't see the cards anymore.

War and Spoon were always really good when I was growing up. Spoon was basically just war, except you reached for a spoon at the end. Go Fish and Crazy 8's were good too. I never really got into Rummy or Bridge, but Solitaire and BS were great to play. None of these actually helped my strategy though.

Spoons - wow! I'd forgotten all about that one. I may just have to teach that to my kids (using plastic spoons so they can't beat each other).

Canasta is another one I had forgotten about. So many games, so little time.

Personally other than poker I like Black Jack

besides poker, I guess magic the gathering and I USED to play pokemon. Also, I played nervous and Spit. My favorite card game to play with other people for fun is Magic the gathering. It was really strategy based and I love that. Pokemon was a fad and wasnt very fun now that I look back at it.

I love most card games. Using standard cards I can play many different games. I have never played bridge and wonder if it is difficult to play. I do not know anyone that plays it. Maybe I could learn online if there is a bridge playing site someplace. But then again, why learn to play it if there is no body for me to play with?

Anybody else play cribbage? I got addicted with online play, but would love to be able to play life - if I could get others as interested as I am.

Also, my cousin taught me a game called "shang hi" that is great when you have several folks (and even better if some of them are drinking0.
