I am looking for some fun board games to play. It has been a while since I played any. I liked to play monopoly but it takes forever with a group of people. I have played games like clue and the one with the brain but I wasn't too thrilled about it. Any suggestions?

| Not that much experience on board games, but Carcassonne is very good.

haha... I'm not a big fan of monopoly... I find chess to be more fun than other games... but there is also the fact that I haven't got the chance to play other board games so I can't say much about them...

I recommend getting you a yahtzee game.. there is not a lot of skill involved and it is great for all ages, no kidding.. and its fun anticipating that special dice roll that you need. Please go buy you a game of it.. they are only like ten bux! really ![]()

I have been playing a lot of monopoly and yahtzee latley so it is really funny that these were mentioned. I decided a few weeks ago to break out some of the good old games. I also really like to play Scrabble and Parcheesi.

For grown ups? Trivia pursuit (or one of the variants), mastermind, battleship, chinese checkers. Backgammon is lots of fun, and chess is challanging. Cribbage is actually a card game, but you do have to move those pegs. Yatzee is also lots of fun!

Depending on your tastes I'd recommend Caylus or Puerto Rico (no chance involved in either, so not super casual, even though puerto at least is pretty easy to pick up). Ticket to Ride and the different versions are fun and will perhaps have a wider appeal. And then there's the modern classic "Settlers of Catan", which is a lighter strategy game than Caylus or Puerto. Try those out and don't get too hooked ![]()

Why not try othello then? It's a simple but really challenging game. It takes two to play. In this game, you have to outthink your opponent until he gives up. But it's never that easy because one wrong move could turn the tide. Any othello fanatics out there?
