EliminateU Eliminated

I use firefox to browse the internet. I also have greasemonkey installed. The other day I was wondering if it would be possible to develop a "killfile" for this site. A forum I used to be a member of had a killfile that helped out a ton with a few users who recreationally spammed the daylights out of the forum. It made the place so much nicer. So I went on a little journey.

If you don't know anything about greasemonkey, it's a program that easily allows users to develop code to enhance their browsing experience. It just requires a little coding and you can personalize your experience online, or you can download other users' codes and just use them for yourself. It's an add on that is completely customizable. The code I have working now is much like the adblock programs and stuff, where it doesn't affect the site for anyone else but when you visit sites, the google-ads just disappear.

So here's the story. After two unsuccessful attempts, I started my third one. Then I noticed something that I can't believe I missed. This site's forum runs off vbulletin software. So I did a little search, and I found that other people had developed general codes already for the function I was trying to create. I tried a few, and they didn't work. I finally found this one, and it worked. Essentially, when I have it turned on, anyone that I add to my "block user" list literally just disappears. Usually on the site you still see they have posted although the message is "hidden." Well, that is no longer the case for me. The forum appears as though the user has literally never even posted.

A while back EliminateU made a comment about me along the lines of the sheriff being back and trying to clean up the place. I would go hunt it down and quote it, but for me, it no longer exists. So in light of that, I decided I would literally just go and clean the place up for myself. I have successfully eliminated EliminateU. Of course he can still post, and everyone else can read it, but I no longer have to even bother scrolling past the "This user has been added to your ignore list" posts that let me know he has posted, because the entire box where it says that, is completely gone.

Ahh, the joys of a clean "town".

LOL, I just added him to my ignore list. And don't bother with the extra line or two here telling me that he added something to the thread.

It works for me.

mmm okay... so you create this ultimate weapon for defeating the scourge of rakeback, and tease us with the stories of how wonderful it is... yet you do not tell us your ransom for such a wonderful device! You're such a tease!

Jokes aside, that's awesome that you are enjoying scripting and having such a good time "eliminating" someone who quite frankly has done an excellent job of peeing in everyone's cornflakes here. He's fine when he's talking poker but Lord help us if someone says something that triggers him on politics...

But anyway it sounds like your ban is a permanent one, unlike the ones that are given out here. So as long as you're on the machine running the script, you won't see anything said by certain people you block...that's pretty cool. You might think about selling that little tid bit LOL

No need to sell it, I'm currently using a public script that has just been modified to work with rakeback. If you'd like to use it, I'll work on getting the instructions posted here tomorrow. The only thing I am not sure about is the reproduction rights of the script since it isn't my original creation. I know I'm allowed to share it, but I'm not sure what the proper way for sharing it is. I'd do it now, but I'm on almost no sleep for 48 hours and getting ready to go to bed earlier than I have in probably about 2 years.

In order to use this, you need to be using Firefox as your browser.

If you are using firefox you need to get greasemonkey. To get this click this link.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748
Then click “Add to Firefox”
You’ll have to wait a few seconds, then click the “install” button.
After that, click the “restart firefox” button in the window that pops up.

Now go to this link
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/52317
And click the “install” button.

Now you should be good to go.

Here is an example of the before page…

If you notice, the monkey in the lower right hand corner is sad, this is because greasemonkey is turned off. So if for some reason you need to turn greasemonkey off, simply click on his face down there.

After you enable greasemonkey, this is the after page…

See, it’s all nice and clean. No annoying “This message is hidden because XXXXX is on your ignore list” Posts to deal with anymore.

I don't care who you are, that is not funny. Honestly, making up ridiculous things like poking monkeys is only funny because it's surreal. What you've just said, someone might take seriously. Why would you want someone to think something so terrible of such a good person and possibly get him into legal trouble?

Do you not think about your actions before you do it? Why should dew end up on one of those online predator lists and possibly end up in trouble just because you're an ignorant louse who never has anything nice to say to anyone?

Keep your "jokes" and "pokes" about monkeys, but keep the slander to yourself. Slander can get you in deep shit, you know...legal deep shit. Nobody wants to read that garbage and it has no place here. Not cool, E... not at all...
