Q..What strange incidents in life got you into playing poker??

i bumped into online poker,a year and a half earlier when i was really involved in this private tracker for business related torrents, and they were having a 5 dollar private game, and i gave it a shot, and have been hooked ever since

I hope people here share their experiences and incidents which got them hooked to poker

Nothing really strange in my case. Grew up playing with family, then internet got created... shortly after online poker followed, and so did I. Pretty cut and dry.

Me and president Obama (of course, he wasn't president then) met a couple years ago. I was watching him at the table, and I decided to sit down. I didn't know how to play, and he picked up on that. I lost some money to him that he claimed was "for his campaign". I told him that it was just an honor to meet him but I didn't really know much about poker and didn't really like it. He was shocked at my comment, and decided to teach me poker. I have been playing ever since.

for the money, of course. $50 used to be a lot of cash down there. not so much anymore with the exchange rate and all.

I grew up playing UNO and Rook and knew nothing about Poker. I was intimidated by the game. One of my friends was playing at Party Poker and got me into playing the play money tables. This was about 5 years ago when U.S. players could still play at Party. I have been playing ever since.

Been playing since college and have been pretty successful. Seeing that cash games are hard to find in my area the internet just seemed like the perfect fit when I am not at a casino

the strangest situation, that I have ever been in was when I was in Mississippi, there was this regular home game with some very good players who gave themselves a MASSIVE handicap but getting high before the game. So I would go in, play, walk outside when they took their "smoke break" and come back in and MOST of the time (not all, varience loves people who are stoned), made out like a bandit. But I never did any of that stuff because I wouldn't want the game to be on a level playing field
