Default My latest lesson learned and played

So I’m scrolling through the 5/10 free chips on Full Tilt and see a red highlighted line so of course I’m intrigued. It’s a pro playing. Looks like a lot of railbirds cuz the chat is packed and the waiting list is maxed at 255.

So I just sit back and watch the chat and gonna study the pro.

I notice that every time he’s on the button he raises. Even after the flop hed push if everybody checked. And I saw most times everybody folded. One time he had a reraise and the pro folded.

I’m fairly new to poker so I never really knew what “position” meant. Well of course I kinda knew what it meant but after seeing this pro work it I REALLY understood it.

So I’m out and about had a DR. appt and decided to go to the local card room after cuz Its been just internet play solid 8 hrs a day last 30 days and my eyes are buggin real good. Sit down with $20 and DON’T post, and just watch the players till the blinds come. Boy nice to have tells and I picked up on a lot very fast.

I notice this one player always plays every ace no matter what the kicker is. So bout 2 hours go by and can you belive it I haven’t lost a hand yet?!

I played the pros methed with raising on the button bout 2 times with good cards and had one show down and won, but this last time listen to this;

On the button with K 10 clubs family pot of limpers. I raise and lose bout half of players. Flop comes A 8 9 rainbow one club.

Everybody checks, so I bet

1 caller, the guy playing A rag all the time. I’m thinking Zhit I’m way behind.

Turn comes cant remember what it is but no help to me, he checks, I look at him as I bet, figure only way to win is to bet at it. Haven’t lost yet so I’m ready for a loss here. He reluctantly calls. Kinda figity like he don’t know what to do.

So I’m convinced now he‘s holding weak ace.

River comes and again I only remember that it wasn’t a K and no flush no straight.

Again he checks. I’m sure I had to show a sign cuz my heart is pumping big time as this time I announce “bet” and push chips in the pot. Figured I pushed all this way my last chance at winning this pot.

He says “FOLD” can you frickin believe it! I take a big breath cuz I haven’t taken one in bout 2 min and say “good cuz I totally missed as I show him my cards. He was furious! He had a weak ace just as I thought. He went on tilt after that and lost the rest his chips.

I took down bout a $50 pot that I should have lost! I soon left after that cuz I had to get going but left a hundo up in bout 2 hrs playing $2/$4 hold’em. Without losing to a showdown.

2 things here:
Quit playing A rags. Cuz it’s a tough decision.
I actually learned something watching a pro on Full Tilt! My game improved that much more!
True story.

Default player is pro?

i think the red letters indicate that he/she is a high stakes gamer, or has over $10k in their account.

check the screen name at pokerdb.com

buildmo, i dont think so. because if that was the case there would be 3 or 4 red lettered names in the 200/400 limits. red means they are recognized "pros" by the site (only about 30 or 40) and they recieve all of their rake back... i could be wrong, but im pretty sure im not.

On Full Tilt a red name is someone affiliated with the site, always a pro, neat to see them playing for free with the play money folk sometimes.

Amut, why are you going into a $2/4 game with $20? you are severely putting yourself at a disadvantage, not to mention if you were to go all in and get called you would only win 20 instead of 400. I dont even care if you had more to play but just sat with $20 ALWAYS come in for more than that at that limit. This must not have been a casino cause I seriously doubt they would allow you to sit with 5BB.

Great story and good tips...Just one thing I would add...When you raise on the button you have to also take in consideration the other players and how they play...Beware of the player who slow plays AA or the player who calls everything..Both can burn you bad if you are not careful...For Iceveins0901...Most poker rooms have a minimum buy-in of 20 for 1-2 and 1-4 games $40 for 4-8...2-4 can be either or in-between...The idea is to get you into te game even though none of the buy-ins are really enough to play with...unless of course you get lucky..

Dude, I'm pretty sure he meant that he sat at a smaller table with 20 bucks then once he won some cash he moved to the 2/4 tables.. Thats what I took out of it at least.

Default Be careful

Full Tilt poker pros, anyone whos name appears in red recieve 100% rakeback and they get $35an hour to play on Full Tilt. The main message of this post however is to be carefull of any information you get from a pro playing in play money game. They will rarely ever be playiong thier best game, They have decided to go to a play money game for a reason which is most likely to have fun. The hand you post is very results orinated with a couple of limpers behind in a full ring 2/4 limit game raising from the button with KTs is a very bad move. Your'e aggresivness shown later in the hand is good, however if you put him on a bad ace and he plays them you should expect him to call down and save your money because betting this against most opponents is spewing. You mention playing 8 hours a day like a job, my advice to you is to take a week and read a couple of poker books and articles during those hours, and you will learn millions more than you will form watching a "pro" play for fake money. Personal message me if you would like some recomendations, I have read almost every book in existance and play 30+ hours a week on full tilt which pays my tuition. Good Luck in the future games.
