| i did not notice this announcement about UB cheating until today. i can't believe they would make such bizarre press release. i guess chat rooms were filled with complaints and chatter about programmers cheating so they felt they had to report some bogus investigaton. so i understand now why they have been routinely offering 100% reload bonuses. i didnt know that this type of thing was going on there, but now that i do i am going to spit in phil hellmuth's face if i ever see him. i encourage you to do the same. what a scum bag. |

| I'm pretty sure if anything is going on at UB, it doesn't have anything to do with Phil Hellmuth. I mean really, if Nike does something I don't agree with overseas, what good is it going to do me to spit in Kobe Bryant's face? I'm pretty sure he has nothing to do with the situation. |

| he is taking untold millions to endorse the site. he has to be resposonsible to do some due diligence. he is buddy buddy with the owners and management. the same management that directly cheats their players. he is also directly responsible for the distinct lack of quality of the ub interface (in conjunction with annie duke), but that's another story. have you seen him renounce the site or apologize? he is the face of UB. i spit in the face of UB. | There are a great many issues dating back to 2005 involving Ultimate Bet, but this is the most recent article I've found. (I did not post the link due to it being found on a competing site with rakeback, therefore I have copied and pasted the article). UPDATE JUNE 1st, 2008: NioNio Cheating Confirmed According to a recent report by the Gaming Intelligence Group, Ultimate Bet (UB) have confirmed that there was suspicious activity related to the account NioNio on their site. After receiving complaints from players and evidence supporting some “abnormal” play, Ultimate Bet performed an investigation of the account “NioNio” on their site. UltimateBet says it immediately called in an independent third-party expert to review “hundreds of thousands of hand histories, all of which were promptly locked down and made available to the expert”. UB went on to say: “The initial findings of our third-party expert confirm that the NioNio account’s winning statistics were indeed abnormal, and we have expanded the investigation to look into whether an unfair advantage existed, how such a scheme might have been perpetrated, and whether additional accounts beyond those of NioNio were involved. “The investigation has proven to be extremely complex and, therefore, has been more extensive and taken much longer than initially expected. We continue to aggressively pursue the matter and will communicate the findings of our full investigation to our regulatory authority and to our customer base as soon as practicable.” UltimateBet is in regular communications and contact with its regulatory authority, The Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC), and agreed to continue to cooperate fully with that body. They posted the following statement on 2+2 poker. This can’t be a good thing for Tokwiro Enterprises Enrg (the parent company of Ultimate Bet) as this is the same company that owns Absolute Poker. Absolute Poker was the center of a huge scandal last year where it was found that company insiders were using super-user accounts (which could see hole cards) to defraud players on the site. They were fined $500,000 for that incident and also paid out all loses to players involved. I am still trying to confirm if this is just a few players running a scam, or if this is something insider. More on this story as it develops. Here is another Article I found updated July 29, 2008......so this is perhaps the most recent to date: Finally, more details have emerged about the cheating scandal which has been on the front page of every poker news website for the past 6 months. Tokwiro Enterprises, the company behind Ultimate Bet has been conducting an internal investigation for what seemed like forever for most people directly interested in the matter. The results of that investigation were turned over to the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, the auditing authority behind the site today. Apparently, the cheating had been going on for much longer than most have anticipated. Tokwiro’s investigation puts the date the scheme got under way to early 2005, but also acknowledges the fact that it may have been going on for much longer. Apparently, a separate special account was used by the perpetrators, which was set up with super-user privileges on Ultimate Bet’s server (its owner could basically wiew people’s hole cards through it), thus the accounts mentioned in previous reports as belonging to cheaters were not directly accessing classified data. There were 19 such accounts involved in the cheating, the owners of which used 88 different screen names through the whole scheme. Besides the data turned over to the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, Tokwiro also released a statement regarding the matter. The statement does not unveil the names of the actual people behind the above mentioned accounts, but it does make it clear that names, IP addresses as well as deposit and withdrawal histories involved in the scheme have all been transferred to the KGC. In the statement, Tokwiro’s Chief Operating Officer took a defensive stance declaring that the software which made the act possible had been installed well before Tokwiro acquired the company in 2006. Even if that is the case, shouldn’t they have discovered it and done something about it somehow? Especially that Tokwiro’s declared objective is to protect the rights of its players… Despite the fact that an earlier statement released by the KGC stated otherwise, due to the extent of the cheating not all player accounts affected have yet received compensation. To wrap it all up, Tokwiro pledged that it’d pursue all legal avenues open to make sure all victims were fully reimbursed and that their business stayed on track.

| UB should be called Ultimate Fraud or Ultimate Ripoff!!. They obviously use shills and bots at their tables, and I just learned that what SEEMS to be live play is actually on some kind of delay. I found this out after they cheated me out of the bad beat jackpot share they promote. I was playing-LIVE-at a table, had in fact played like 3 hands and then the jackpot was hit. Everyone at my table got a share, as I should have. 5 E-mails to Customer Support went nowhere for 3 days. Then finally some moronic non-English speaking guy calls to tell me that something is wrong with MY e-mail. This, despite the fact I'd been getting e-mail from them for days on tournement registrations and other promo crap. The moron couldn't understand that the problem must be on his end, since all other e-mails from them were coming through. His solution was to send it to their tech team. Whoo Hooo! Meanwhile, his fradulent explanation for my not getting my jackpot share was that I'd been seating out. Even though I was clearly live from my point of view, had been chatting with others at my table about the hand we had just played--that I won--and THEN the announcement on the jackpot came. But the lame-o customer support couldn't explain that what was live on my end was actually a delayed play at their end. Bottom line: UB is a fradulent, cheating site that should not be trusted. Their promo crap is just a shill to get you to spend more money--and it is not LIVE, it is delay play that works to their benefit. |
