Default Why the house always wins!!!

Do you think you can beat the house? hmmm? Let's take at quick look at it.

First we have to realize the gaming giants aren't building more luxurios casinos because they lose. The games are designed so that the house alway gets something. Games like roulette, craps, let-it-ride and even pai gow poker the house manage to keep an edge over the players.

Poker is different from these games, you're basically paying rent to the house!!
Depending on the casino your rent comes in two forms: Rake or Collection.

Rake is where the house takes a percentage, on average it's $1 per $20 pot.

Collection is normally used at higher limits. It's a charge applied to every player at the table. Example: say every 1/2hr the players will be charged $5 at a $10/20 game.

With this in mind you pay more for your seat at a raked table vs collection, the conservative players should play at the raked tables while aggressive players would be btter off playing a collection table.

You'd be surprised how many beginner online poker players have no concept of what rake is. Some poker rooms make it very hard for players to detect that any money of the pot goes to the house.

Yes, the tourneys at Absolute just have an amount, no plus this rake. But in the upper right in the lobby of the tourney it states 9% removed for rake.

We all need to remember there are many skill levels represented here and we can all learn from each other. Rolling through the basics once and a while makes an expert re-examine their basic foundation, never a bad idea. You never know, there may be a small crack there.

There is one thing for sure, we know all of us are smarter than the average bear because we get rakeback.

Thanks for the post, 'Eat'.

OK, so you think this is a pointless post!! Think about this: you're playing $10/20 HU (raked table), you both bring $1000 to the table. You are both solid players and play for 1hr without adding more money to the table, you'll notice that there is no longer $2000 at the table due to rake. Back to my post example, collection is $5 per 1/2hr, which would you rather play HU? personally i would prefer collection. see my point now?

its a pretty known fact that if u play 1-2 live with 10% rake against half decent players, its nearly impossible to beat the game in the long run cuz of the rake.
