Video Game Thread

I am pretty sure that as an escape from poker (and sometimes during poker) a lot of us play video games. I was surprised not to see too many threads dedicated to this time wasting endeavor, so I thought I'd start one. I thought it would be cool to have a thread where we can discuss new titles, maybe help each other through difficult parts of games, and give reviews of games as well.

A little about my video game playing history - For the most part I've played mostly sports games, but have recently dabbled into other games. I think I've played every Madden and NCAA Football there is, but as I'm getting a little older and this crap called real life is getting in the way I haven't played as much lately. When I do play I am usually 6months to a year behind the games that are "hot" at the moment. For example, I am currently playing Tiger Woods 2010 the most, while games like Uncharted 2 remain unopened on my shelf.

What games are you guys playing? I heard the new COD is awesome...maybe I'll get to it in the Summer of 2013.

The only video games I play are RPGs pretty much. Any Metroid or Zelda game gets me going.

Videogames may provide a perfect background to successfully play online poker at the highest levels. Before grinding the virtulal felts, Nanonoko, probably the best multitabler in the world, was already known by his online name in the professional video game industry. He was one of the top Street Fighter players in the world and would compete in international competitions.

Yeah, video games are cool and I do play them a lot (my screen name is gamer4life27 after all...), but to discuss them in GREAT detail would be best left for full length blogs or guides or sites dedicated to it instead of a poker site.

On the other hand, it is healthy to discuss great stress relievers from poker, or things besides poker as not everyone's life is 100% dedicated to poker (and if it is, you should look at yourself from an outside perspective because not even pros have poker on the brain 100% of the time). As far as video games go, I haven't been playing them lately but do play RPG games, puzzle games, numbers games, "hard" games, and basically anything I feel like playing because I can pick up any game pretty easy and am really competitive.

Ever since I started grad school, poker is one of the few ways that I still have that I can get my mind off all the crap I have going on. Any other activity and I always feel like I should be working on something else.
