Default Online poker may be attached to the Payroll Tax Cut Extension

Source: NV Gov. Sandoval calls top casino execs and tells them of agreement between Reid & Kyl, adding internet poker to payroll tax bill.

But governor Sandoval's spokesperson shot down these claims:

@BrianSandoval spox shoots down Twitter report he is telling NV casinos of a Reid-Kyl deal on #webpoker. "That is patently false," she sez.
(thank a poster on another forum for this info)

Many other respected posters on another forum that claim to have info said this is not a mere rumor.

Also, if you weren't aware, there is a good chance NV hosts intrastate poker before the end of this year. If the attached bill accepts Nevada's regulations for interstate poker, as Reid intended in Dec 2010, we could potentially have interstate poker by the end of this year - but this is all speculation. If this passes (and it's still an "IF"), then it's likely it'll take a year before we're playing online.

Poker legislation has already passed in Nevada, making intrastate poker legal there. The only holdup is that the regulators are getting their act together and then will be licensing sites. Many believe we'll see intrastate online poker in NV by the end of this year.

On February 29th, a tax cut extension bill will be voted on and it seems this will be a must pass. So it's rumored Senator Majority Leader Reid, who has ties with the casinos, will attach an online poker bill. The idea and politics of it will be A) the Wire Act only applies to sports betting, not to other forms of gambling so therefore we must B) prohibit all forms of online gambling at the federal level, except poker, which will be taxed and regulated. I wouldn't get too excited, but something might be brewing.
